The Los Angeles Lakers finally saw their five-game losing streak come to an end. After stumbling around, they were able to earn a nine-point win over the Houston Rockets, who have the worst record in the Western Conference. On Wednesday, the Lakers will try to get another win when they face the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizz are fresh off an encouraging outing where they knocked off the Phoenix Suns thanks to a game-winning shot from Ja Morant in the closing seconds. Can they protect their home court against the Lakers?

Memphis opened as a 3.5-point favourite to win on the NBA odds, with a total of 223.5.

Lakers vs. Grizzlies NBA Betting Odds

The Lakers haven’t had much luck against the Grizzlies lately. They are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six meetings with the Grizzlies on the road. Los Angeles has been good when playing in the second matchup of a back-to-back situation, winning seven of their last 10 games.

Meanwhile, the Grizzlies are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games overall and are looking as strong as ever. However, they have been just 1-4 ATS in their past four games at home when playing against a team with a losing road record on the season.

Los Angeles Lakers

With so many players in and out of the starting lineup, it is apparent that there is very little chemistry on this Lakers roster. Anthony Davis remains out with an MCL injury. The Lakers are also missing Trevor Ariza, Kendrick Nunn, Kent Bazemore, Wayne Ellington and Austin Reaves. LeBron James has done everything in his power to establish some type of momentum. He averages 27.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game. Russell Westbrook has been a major contributor also, pouring on 19.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 8.1 assists a contest. Outside of these two stars, the roster gets incredibly thin and a good chunk of these players haven’t consistently been able to create their own shot. On top of that, this has been a bad shooting team – especially from beyond the arc. They’re 21st in three-point shooting percentage. In this modern-day NBA, that’s absolutely brutal and is one of the reasons they’re struggling.

Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis will be without Dillon Brooks for this game as he sits in the league’s health and safety protocols. However, this team plays with a lot of grit and has bodies to fill in. That’s mostly been the reason of how they can compete with the best teams in the league.

Morant leads them with 23.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game. He’s gotten great support from Desmond Bane, who has been incredibly surprising. The second-year player is having a breakout season, taking over the games that Morant has been out with injury. Bane holds averages of 17.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Add those two players onto a really young roster that loves to play with high intensity.

The key for them is to get to the free throw line. They’re fifth in the NBA in free throw attempts and if they can drive a lot and force the Lakers into cheap hacks, Memphis will be in their comfort zone in this one.
