The Lakers continue a pivotal six-game road trip riding a two-game losing streak after getting outclassed in a 138-122 loss in Atlanta on Wednesday night, and have now fallen to defeat in nine of their past 11 road contests. The Celtics aim to pad their lead atop the NBA standings with a third straight victory after posting a 129-124 win over the visiting Indiana Pacers that improves their home record to a league-best 22-2.

The Celtics are set to hit the court as 11.5-point home favourites on the Thursday NBA odds. The Lakers sport lengthy +475 odds on the NBA moneyline and the total is pegged at 240.5.

Lakers vs. Celtics NBA Betting Odds

The Celtics have been simply dominant on home court this season, with 12 of their 22 victories to date coming by double-digit margins. But in addition to the consecutive home defeats in the final two weeks of January that spoiled their unblemished home record, the Celtics have also struggled to reward loyal sports bettors while failing to cover in four straight home games, and seven of 10 overall at TD Garden. The club has also produced mixed results as double-digit home chalk, going a perfect 10-0 SU, but just 3-4 ATS in their past seven.

The Lakers meanwhile have struggled on the road all season. With Tuesday’s loss to the Hawks, the Lakers now sport a dismal 7-17 SU road, by far the worst among teams currently in the NBA playoff picture. LA has also covered just once while losing five of their past six away dates, with those defeats coming by an average margin of 14 points.

Los Angeles Lakers

With Anthony Davis sidelined by nagging Achilles and hip injuries, the Lakers received contributions from off the bench on Tuesday, with Rui Hachiumura dropping 16 points for a second straight game. Both AD and LeBron James are once again listed as questionable for Thursday’s contest. James continues to battle through an ankle injury that has limited him to just 21.5 points per game during the team’s current 0-2 slide. However, the greater concern facing this club is their inability to shut down opposing shooters, who have scored an average of 130.9 points per game during the team’s current 3-4 SU overall run, and have outpaced the Lakers by an average of 15 rebounds over the past two games.

Boston Celtics

After stumbling out of the gate in their previous two contests, averaging 23 points in first-quarter action, the Celtics returned to familiar form on Tuesday, establishing an early double-digit advantage over the Pacers on their way to a 129-124 win. However, letdowns after recess remain a concern. The Celtics allowed Indy back into Tuesday’s contest while getting outscored by a 37-25 margin in the third quarter, and have now mustered 25 or fewer points in third frame in six of the past nine games. The starting five, led by Jayson Tatum, has led the attack. Tatum racked up 30 points on Tuesday in his highest scoring home performance in three weeks while Derrick White and Jaylen Brown contributed 24 and 25 points, respectively. However, this team could benefit from more production from their bench, which contributed just 18 points per game during their current 2-0 run.
