On Tuesday, the New York Knicks will be getting a second chance against the Miami Heat after losing to them 109-103 on Sunday. They hope to turn it around in this matchup even though they’ve now lost six of their last nine. Will the Heat turn them back again or can the Knicks surprise here?

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Knicks are 4-1 against the spread in their past five matchups following an ATS loss in their previous affair. We could see this number increase to 5-1 if they are able to lock down defensively as they have for most of the year. After losing to this team a few days ago, this young roster will be searching for revenge.

Meanwhile, the Heat are just 1-7-1 ATS in their last nine games at home. However, the Heat have played well in this series, winning five of the last six showdowns while going 4-1-1 ATS.

New York Knicks

The Knicks enter this game at 11-14 on the year and they’re hoping to find a spark to turn things around. After starting the year positively, they have now dropped six of nine and are freefalling.

They just acquired Derrick Rose in a trade that saw Dennis Smith Jr. being sent over to the Detroit Pistons and the hope is that Rose plays in this matchup. Assuming he isn’t able to make it onto the court, this team still has a ton of pieces that need to pick up the slack.

Julius Randle currently leads the team in points per game with 22.7, while young guard R.J. Barrett is right behind him at 17.2 points per game. But it hasn’t just been these two players, rookie Immanuel Quickley has averaged 12.0 points per game on high efficiency, Elfrid Payton has dished out 3.7 assists per game and Austin Rivers has had a few tremendous scoring games this season. This isn’t the same old Knicks team that we have grown accustomed to seeing. They may be the 30th-ranked scoring offence in the league but they happen to boast the No. 1 defence to cancel it out. They’re only scoring 102.7 points per game as a team but holding their opponents to 104 per outing. This is a young and hungry basketball team that will give the Heat all that they can handle in this one.

Miami Heat

Miami hasn’t looked like the same team that made the NBA Finals last season just yet. They have been slammed with injuries this season across their roster, losing guys like Avery Bradley, Goran Dragic, Tyler Herro and Jimmy Butler for multiple games. Both Butler and Herro are expected to play in this matchup, which should ease the pressure on Bam Adebayo’s shoulders a little bit. Butler has averaged 18.2 points per game while Herro has added on 17 per contest. Without them, Adebayo has been asked to carry the offensive load and he has delivered, averaging just over 20 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game and leading his team to a 9-14 record. The Heat lost seven of their previous eight games before hopping on this small two game win streak. They’ll have to be focused here to avoid falling back into the loss column.
