Trae Young and company are hoping the switch to Atlanta for Game 3 is exactly what the Hawks need to break the 1-1 tie in this series.

The New York Knicks evened their series against the Atlanta Hawks in Game 2 behind a fantastic second half run. The trash talk in Madison Square Garden was at an all-time high, though things will be different heading into Atlanta for the first time in this series. Will the Knicks be able to break the tie and go up 2-1, or will home court advantage be enough for Atlanta to bounce back?

Knicks vs. Hawks NBA Playoff Odds

Atlanta is a 4-point favourite to win on the NBA odds with a total of 211.

The Knicks are 9-2 against the spread in their past 11 games when coming into the matchup as the road underdog. They are also 10-2 ATS after playing three or more consecutive home games.

Meanwhile, the Hawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five games in the postseason as the favourite. They were 23-13 ATS at home this season, while going 25-11 straight up in those games.

New York Knicks

The Knicks were able to win Game 2 despite another terrible offensive performance from Julius Randle. Randle was able to contribute to other areas of the game, but recorded just 15 points on five-for-16 shooting from the field. He didn’t even hit a single field goal in the first half. However, Randle didn’t have to be that great in this matchup as the Knicks were boosted by performances from Reggie Bullock and Derrick Rose. Rose ended with 26 points, four rebounds and four assists while Bullock came through with a few clutch threes to give him 15 points on the night.

New York had the luxury of getting the first two games at home, but this will be a much harder atmosphere for them to play in. Especially so, when you take into account their inexperience, which has shown in the lackluster play from both RJ Barrett and Randle. If both of those guys can weather the storm and have big nights, the Knicks could easily jump up 2-1.

Atlanta Hawks

Outside of Trae Young, there aren’t many positives to take away from Game 2. Atlanta held a substantial lead in the first half but went completely cold in the second and the rest of the roster couldn’t even keep up without Young on the floor. Young had 30 points and seven assists, the highest scorer on the team by a long shot. Deandre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic each poured in 18 points of their own, but on pretty poor efficiency, just 11 of 31 combined. As for the bench crew, they totalled just 22 points as a whole, which is nowhere near enough to help them win games. Luckily for the Hawks, they will be playing with a packed stadium and it should give their confidence and shooting a huge boost in Game 3. They were excellent at home this season.

The Hawks played well in Game 1 and played well in the first half of Game 2. Now they just need to play another full game and they should edge ahead 2-1.
