The New York Knicks were able to get off their four-game losing streak with a massive two-point win against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday. Their upcoming schedule doesn’t get any easier as the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Celtics are next on Thursday.

The home team Celtics are pinned as -8.5 favourites on the NBA odds, whereas the over-under is tabulated to be 223.5.

Knicks vs. Celtics NBA Betting Odds

The Knicks are 5-1 ATS in their last six games when going up against a team with a winning percentage greater than .600 on the season. They are also 26-9 ATS in their past 35 played on the road. When it comes to their total, the over has cashed in six of their last seven games played on a Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Celtics have failed to cover four straight overall but are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games played on a Thursday. Looking at the total, the under has hit in their last four games and four of their last five games played at home.

New York Knicks

The victory against the Cavaliers was badly needed for the Knicks. Losing four straight against teams that were evenly matched was a disappointing run as they’ve now fallen to seventh in the Eastern Conference standings. There’s still lots of time in the regular season but this now drops them into the play-in section of the playoffs.

To get back on track they needed a massive performance out of Julius Randle, who dropped 36 points and 13 rebounds to pull them to victory against Cleveland. He’s been the recipe for success most of the year in New York. He scores about three points more and averages an extra three-pointer and free throw when the team wins compared to in the team’s losses.

Jalen Brunson and RJ Barrett have been on fire this month as both are averaging their best scoring figures to date. In January, Brunson is pouring in 28.3 points per game while Barrett is at 22.4. The Knicks should be winning more games when this duo is producing like this but are only 7-5 through January.

Boston Celtics

Two straight losses for the Celtics shouldn’t raise much concern. After all, they are still the best team in the league at 35-14. One major injury that’s hindered them of late has been Marcus Smart, who’s not expected back for another few games. Smart’s absence leaves a hole on both the defensive and offensive ends. He’s averaging 7.2 assists per game and 1.3 steals per game, which both lead the team.

Without him, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are going to have to carry a larger load. Tatum has been playing at an MVP level with 31.0 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game while Brown is adding on 26.9 points of his own to bolster the offensive production. Look for good games from them.
