If the Memphis Grizzlies lose Game 4 on Monday night, it will likely be their last home game of the season.  The top-seeded Utah Jazz lead 2-1 in the Western Conference first round series and they’re a 5.5-point favourite to win on the NBA odds for Game 4. The total is set at 225.

Jazz vs. Grizzlies NBA Playoff Odds

The winner of this series, which will be Utah barring a major injury, will face either the No. 4 Los Angeles Clippers or No. 5 Dallas Mavericks in the second round. The Jazz had the best record in the NBA, so they will have home-court advantage as long as they are alive in the postseason. Despite that terrific record, Utah is only a +700 fifth-favourite to win their first NBA title. On this series line, the Jazz are -2000 to win, while the Grizzlies are +1000. Utah winning in five is the -135 favourite.

While this might be the last home game of the season for Memphis, the future is bright with every key player under contract through at least next season. The Grizzlies have two Canadian players in Dillon Brooks and Brandon Clarke. Brooks is a key contributor, but for some reason Clarke has essentially fallen out of the rotation despite averaging 10.3 points and 5.6 rebounds during the regular season.

Utah Jazz

Utah lost Game 1 with All-Star and leading scorer Donovan Mitchell out due to an ankle injury. Mitchell, however, has made all the difference in the Jazz winning the last two games. He had 29 points in Saturday’s 121-111 Game 3 victory in Memphis. Mitchell is now averaging 27.3 points through 25 career playoff games. Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant and LeBron James are the only active players who averaged more points in their first 25 playoff games.

Mike Conley had 27 points, eight assists and six rebounds, as Utah closed the game on a 14-2 run. Conley tied his regular season and playoff career-highs with seven made 3-pointers. Rudy Gobert added 15 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks. The Jazz win came a day after former centre Mark Eaton, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year who spent his entire NBA career with Utah, died in a bike accident. Eaton’s No. 53 was retired by the Jazz during the 1995-96 season. The Jazz are 4-1 against the spread in their past five as road favourites.

Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizzlies were down by 11 points entering the fourth quarter of Game 3, but opened the fourth with a 22-9 run sparked by six straight points from Dillon Brooks, who finished with 27 in the game. Memphis would take their first lead of the game with about five minutes to go, but then Utah went on that big run to close things out. Ja Morant totalled 28 points with seven assists. Former Raptor Jonas Valanciunas notched a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, while Grayson Allen added 17 points off the bench. Memphis shot just 43 per cent overall and 13-for-41 from deep.

Afterward, Brooks complained that the Jazz are constantly setting moving screens on offence, but not being called for it. Perhaps that’s something to watch if called early in Game 4. Memphis is 10-4 ATS in its past 14 as a dog.
