The Milwaukee Bucks will be looking to continue their climb up the NBA Eastern Conference standings with an eighth straight victory when they host the slumping Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night.
The Bucks return home after rolling to a 118-100 win in Indiana on Sunday. The Hornets remained winless on their current four-game road trip after dropping a 133-119 decision in Chicago on Sunday.
Milwaukee is a 9-point favourite to win on the NBA odds, with a total of 231.0.
Hornets vs. Bucks NBA Betting Odds
The Bucks have enjoyed the support of 61 per cent of Sports Interaction bettors heading into this one. The total originally had been on the decline since opening at 230.0, dipping briefly to 229.0 before recovering to its current position at 231.0.
Wednesday night’s matchup marks the first of four regular season clashes between these Eastern Conference rivals. Milwaukee tallied a 114-104 win when these two teams last met on April 27, in Charlotte. However, it is the Hornets who claimed the season series, earning the win in two earlier meetings, including a 127-119 victory at Fiserv Forum in which they covered as 3-point underdogs. That marked the Hornets first outright victory in seven visits to Milwaukee since October 2016. However, Charlotte holds the clear betting edge over the Bucks in head-to-head action, going 9-3-1 over their past 13, including a 2-2-1 record on the road. Recent meetings between these teams in Milwaukee have also tended to be high scoring, powering a 4-1 run for the OVER.
Charlotte Hornets
The Hornets have struggled to carry over the momentum gained from their recent 7-1 straight up run into their current road trip. The club overcame a 17-point deficit to force overtime before falling just short in a 146-143 loss in Houston to kick off their current junket. But no such comeback was in the cards on Sunday, as the Hornets failed to shutdown a red-hot Bulls attack that shot a season-high 59.6 per cent from the field while becoming the fourth team to score more than 130 points against the Hornets this season. The Charlotte defence will not be helped by the continued absence of Mason Plumlee. The veteran big man has been a steady presence in the paint while averaging 7.3 rebounds per game, and also leads the team in blocks. However, he remains hobbled by a calf injury that has sidelined him for three games.
Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks have been getting it done at both ends of the court during their current 7-0 run. Not surprisingly, reigning NBA Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo has led the attack, averaging 27.9 points per game and recording double-doubles on four occasions during the club’s current surge. However, the Milwaukee defence has also tightened up considerably, allowing just 99 points per game over their past seven. In addition to marking a dramatic improvement after the team surrendered 109.8 points per game through their first 14 contests, the Bucks’ newfound stinginess has resulted in four straight wins by double-digit margins and the club’s first 4-0 against the spread run of the season.
