The Sixers were outclassed while falling to defeat in Games 1 and 2 in Miami, capped by a lopsided 119-103 loss on Wednesday night. They are now winless straight up and against the spread in four of their last five contests. The Heat improved to 6-1 in the postseason with Wednesday’s victory, but have won just one of three road contests going into Game 3.

Now poised to take a commanding 3-0 series lead, the Heat have climbed to 3-point favourites to win since opening at -1.5 on the NBA odds. And in the wake of their decisive Game 2 victory, Miami has also vaulted to -1667 chalk on the NBA playoff series prices. With the status of injured star Joel Embiid still in doubt, the 76ers have dipped to +132 moneyline underdogs on Friday night. Philadelphia also lags as a distant +824 longshot to rebound and knock off the surging Heat. The total has held steady at 210.5, with the OVER backed by 91 per cent of sports bettors.

Friday night’s matchup at Wells Fargo Center marks the seventh overall meeting of the season between these clubs. The Heat have dominated, claiming victory in eight of 12 head-to-head meetings, and split a pair dates with the Sixers in Philadelphia during the regular season. However, Miami has struggled to pay out in recent outings as road favourites, losing outright in three of five, including a narrow 111-110 loss in Atlanta as 2-point chalk in Game 3 of the first round.

The Sixers currently enjoy a 5-1 run on home court, but have been a massive disappointment when pegged as home underdogs, going 4-7 straight up in their past 11 while covering just five times. Philadelphia is also winless in its past three at home while trailing 0-2 in a playoff series.

Miami Heat

After missing the past four games with a hamstring injury, Kyle Lowry’s status for Friday’s contest has been raised to questionable. However, considering the recent steady performance of Tyler Herro, the Heat may opt to give their veteran leader a little more time to heal. Herro contributed 18 points and seven rebounds in Game 2, and has now averaged 21.5 points per game in this series. Bam Adebayo is also coming off another big night, racking up 23 points and nine boards in Game 2, but could face a tougher time producing should Embiid return to the Sixers lineup.

Philadelphia 76ers

Embiid has reportedly cleared concussion protocol, but remains listed out for Friday’s contest. However, given the dire straits this team finds itself in, the big man may be pressed into service sooner than expected. With Embiid on the shelf, the 76ers have been dominated under the bucket, outboarded by an overall 91-71 margin over the first two games of the series. Philadelphia has also been outscored by a 31-point margin over the past six quarters of play. One bright spot for the Sixers has been the play of point guard Tyrese Maxey, who drained a season-high 34 points in Game 2, and averaged 26 points over his past three outings.
