The Memphis Grizzlies are not expected to have superstar guard Ja Morant for Game 4 of their Western Conference playoff series at Golden State on Monday. Because of that, the Warriors are up to -10.5 on the NBA odds to take a 3-1 series lead.

Grizzlies vs. Warriors NBA Playoff Betting Odds

Memphis probably wasn’t going to win this series if it stayed fully healthy, but it basically has no shot if superstar Ja Morant will miss the rest of it.

With Golden State up 2-1, it is -1000 on the series line (was -249 entering Game 3) with Memphis +610 (was +238). On the series handicap, Warriors at -1.5 games is -345 and Grizzlies +1.5 is +262. On the score after Game 5 special, Warriors winning 4-1 is a +145 favourite, and I tend to agree with that. On the series exact result, Warriors in five is also +145, followed by in six at +160. The over/under for series total games if 5.5, with the over a -192 favourite.

Memphis is 4-10 against the spread in its past 14 at Golden State.

Memphis Grizzlies

Star Ja Morant injured his knee on a bit of an unusual play with about six minutes left in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s 142-112 loss and is not expected to play tonight. That’s obviously devastating for the Grizzlies even though they were 20-5 without Morant in the regular season. He had 34 points, seven assists, three rebounds and three steals in Game 3. Tyus Jones, who was 0-for-5 shooting off the bench on Saturday, would start in his place. Jones is a good passer who rarely turns the ball over but not in the same stratosphere as Morant otherwise. Mississauga native Dillon Brooks was suspended for Game 3 but will be back, and he will certainly be needed more on offence. Memphis is 0-4-1 ATS in its past five as a road dog.

Golden State Warriors

Golden State might have beaten any team in NBA history Saturday by shooting an incredible 63.1 per cent from the field, second-best ever in a playoff game. Steph Curry had 30 points, Klay Thompson (who had been struggling) finished with 21 and Jordan Poole had 27 off the bench. The Warriors had 78 second-half points, tying the franchise record for most points in any playoff half. They are 3-0 in these playoffs when Curry, Thompson and Poole all score at least 20 points in a game. With guard Gary Payton II getting injured in Game 2 (he’s out for the series) and veteran forward Andre Iguodala still out, Steve Kerr gave 19-year-old Jonathan Kuminga the start in Game 3, and he became the youngest player in NBA history to start a playoff game since starters were officially tracked in 1970-71. He had 18 points. The Warriors have won six straight games at home dating to the regular season.
