Tuesday’s decisive victory has given the Grizzlies a lift on the Game 3 odds, where they sit as 1.5-point road favourites, backed by 85 per cent of sports bettors. And after knotting the series at one game apiece, Memphis has also reclaimed lost ground on the NBA playoff series prices, improving to lofty -263 chalk. Fresh off their worst playoff loss in 19 years, the Timberwolves enter Game 3 as +109 moneyline underdogs, and have faded to +209 longshots to win the series. The total has also diminished to 236 since opening at 238.5, with the UNDER supported by 80 per cent of the betting action.

Thursday night’s matchup marks the seventh overall meeting of the season between these clubs, and their third clash in Minnesota. The two teams split the first six dates, with the Timberwolves claiming impressive victories in their two previous clashes at Target Center. While this series features the two highest scoring teams in the NBA during the regular season, it has not translated into steady results for sports bettors taking the OVER. With Minnesota turning in their lowest scoring performance in over two months in Tuesday’s loss, the UNDER paid out for the third time in four head-to-head meetings.

Generating offence has not been a problem for the T-Wolves in recent home dates with Memphis. The club has averaged 130.3 points while winning two of three, capped by a hard-fought 119-114 win on Feb. 24. However, consistency proved elusive down the stretch, with Minnesota claiming victory in just three of their final six home dates while allowing over 120 points on four occasions. Winners in just two of their past five road dates, the Grizzlies have also produced mixed results as road chalk, going 5-3 over their past eight while covering just three times over that stretch. Memphis has also historically struggled on the road in postseason action, losing 11 of 14 since April 2015.

The Grizzlies responded to their stunning series-opening defeat in impressive fashion, posting the most lopsided playoff victory in franchise history in Game 2. Ja Morant powered the squad’s resurgence with a near triple-double, racking up 23 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds. Already the primary focus of the T-Wolves defence, Morant was forced to briefly leave Game 2 after taking a knee to the thigh from Karl-Anthony Towns. However, he is not expected to miss action on Thursday night.

Minnesota Timberwolves

After dominating in a 130-117 Game 1 win, the T-Wolves offence took a step back on Tuesday. Minnesota shooters converted just 39.5 per cent of field goal attempts and committed 20 turnovers. Accordingly, the squad failed to reach the 20-point mark in both the second and fourth quarters. Anthony Edwards once again led the attack, but mustered just 20 points after piling up 36 points in Game 1. Towns recorded a fifth straight double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, but tallied just two boards and three points while giving away the ball twice in limited fourth-quarter action.
