Memphis Grizzlies vs. Toronto Raptors Prediction, NBA Odds
The Toronto Raptors look to record consecutive victories and their first home win of the season when they host the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night in NBA betting action at Scotiabank Arena.
The Raptors snapped a four-game slide with Friday’s 112-101 win in Cleveland but came up short in their first two home dates of the campaign including Wednesday’s lopsided 139-121 loss to Houston.
The Grizzlies travel north of the border after dropping a 117-112 decision to the visiting Los Angeles on Friday night and have alternated between wins and losses while compiling a 3-3 record.
The Raptors lead the way as 5.5-point favourites on the Sunday NBA odds. The Grizzlies trail as a +180 bet on the NBA moneyline and the total is listed at 239.5.
Grizzlies vs. Raptors NBA Betting Odds
The Grizzlies swept the Raptors in two meetings last season including a decisive 138-107 win in Toronto on February 5, and have now claimed three straight head-to-head victories, both straight up and against the spread.
The Grizzlies also enjoy a five-game win streak at Scotiabank Arena, with three of those victories coming by double-digit margins and two while pegged as road underdogs. The OVER has paid out in NBA totals betting in their past two meetings, ending a 5-0 run for the UNDER.
Sunday’s matchup marks just the third time this season the Raptors are pegged as betting chalk. The club lost outright in their first two dates while sporting negative odds, ending a reliable 6-1 SU and ATS run, including a 122-116 defeat at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks on October 24 while pegged as 2-point chalk.
Consistency has eluded the Grizzlies in the early going of the campaign. In addition to failing to record back-to-back wins, Memphis has lost three straight against the spread and has failed to cover as a betting dog in seven straight since New Year’s Eve.
Memphis Grizzlies
If the Grizzlies are to record consecutive wins for the first time this season, they are going to have to do it without the services of star point guard Ja Morant, who has been suspended by the team for one game after reportedly disrespecting head coach Tuomas Iisalo in front of the team after facing criticism from the bench boss for his play and leadership in the wake of Friday’s loss to the Lakers.
Indeed, it has been far from a banner start to the season for the Memphis bad boy, who picked up just eight points in Friday’s loss and reached 20 points just three times in six outings. Despite Friday’s defeat and the distraction caused by Morant, the Grizzlies did receive contributions from up and down the lineup, with six players recording double-digit point totals, led by Jaylen Wells and Jock Landale, who led the team with 16 points each.
Toronto Raptors
The Raptors seized the early lead and never looked back in Friday’s victory over the Cavaliers. Jamison Battle led the assault with 20 points and a pair of key three-pointers in the win. It was a breakthrough performance for the rookie, who saw just 15 minutes of playing time and had averaged just nine points in three previous appearances.
Both Brandon Ingram and RJ Barrett also contributed 20 points, while Scottie Barnes was tops on the night with 10 rebounds and now leads the squad with 6.7 boards per game. Barnes also added 14 points to record his third double-double of the season.
Overall, Ingram leads the squad with 21.7 points per game but scored 29 points in each of his first two home appearances. The Raptors will be without Jakob Poeltl for a third straight game on Sunday as the big man continues his recovery from a back injury.
