A 17-point Grizzlies victory in Game 5, the most lopsided game this series, could flip all the momentum too. The win was Memphis’ first this series with Ja Morant in the lineup and now all it takes is a road win to force a winner-take-all battle at the NBA’s hardest place to win. The good news for L.A. is they’re back home where they’re 2-0  and undefeated against Memphis all year, including the regular season.

Tip-off for Game 6 at Crypto.com Arena starts at 10:30 p.m. EDT with the Lakers a 4.5-point favourite to close out the series and the total at 218.5 on the NBA odds.

The winning team has covered the spread in every game played thus far. A combined 45-point fourth quarter put Game 5 under the total, making the under 3-2 this series. With that the under has now connected in 15 of the last 20 Grizzlies–Lakers matchups.

The Lakers come into Friday having won five straight at home, and eight of their last nine times hosting Memphis. The Grizzlies are 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games overall. Memphis is 14-28-1 ATS in road games this season. The Lakers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Friday home games and should have an electric crowd on their side in Game 6.

Memphis Grizzlies

Desmond Bane put forth another massive outing on the offensive side of the ball for Memphis in Game 5 with a game-high 33 points on 12 of 21 shooting from the field. Bane reached a double-double with 10 rebounds, while Ja Morant was right behind with a 31-point, 10-rebound night himself. The Grizzlies pulled away with a 26-2 fourth-quarter run.

The challenge for Memphis now becomes stealing one in L.A. If Bane and Morant can each go for 30-plus again the Grizzlies should be in a favourable spot, but another key in Memphis’ two wins this series has been defence. L.A. has finished under 100 points in both of the Grizzlies victories.

Los Angeles Lakers

Game 5 was by no means L.A.’s A-game, which is something they can use as motivation heading into Friday. The Lakers have shown this series they have the depth outside of Anthony Davis and LeBron James to contend with anyone, but it’s necessary to show up if they’re to come out as winners.

In Game 5 Davis led the club with 31 points but then had no other player finish above 17 points. LeBron was off his mark too, finishing with 15 points while shooting one for nine from three-point range. Davis and James both posted double-doubles in the losing effort, with Davis snatching a game-high 19 boards and James 10.
