L.A. re-took the series lead Saturday in a statement win in which the Lakers sold out a playoff game for the first time in a decade. The final was 111-101 L.A, but the Lakers cruised in the second half after going up 35-9 in the first quarter and holding Memphis to 37 first half points.

Ja Morant returned for the Grizzlies after missing Game 2 and was the lone reason why this one ended close. Morant finished with a game-high 45 points and scored 22 straight for Memphis in the fourth quarter. But it was too little too late and the Lakers are now up 2-1 in the series.

Tip-off Monday night at Crypto.com Arena begins at 10 p.m. EDT with the Lakers a five-point favourite at home and the total at 220.5 on the NBA odds.

The under hit for the second straight time this series, with the loser again hovering right around 100 points. Both of these clubs averaged about 117 points a game this season but the defence has been tighter come playoff time — Memphis is averaging 105 points a game and L.A. 110.

Saturday’s loss made Memphis 1-7 in their last eight road games against the Lakers. Memphis is also now 1-4 ATS in their last five on the road, and 2-6 ATS in their last eight overall. The game winner has covered all three times in this series. The Lakers are 7-1 in their last eight at home.

Memphis Grizzlies

Prior to Game 3, Dillon Brooks put a target on himself by calling out LeBron’s age and inability to score 40 points. LeBron didn’t get to that milestone in Game 3, but Brooks had himself a real tough night going three for 13 from the field and getting ejected for a groin strike on LeBron.

Morant was outstanding in the losing effort with 45 points, 13 assists, and nine rebounds. The Grizzlies star guard finished six for 10 from three-point range too, while the rest of the Grizzlies shot a combined seven for 29 from deep. The Grizzlies got little production from their bench, getting outscored by L.A.’s subs 25-12. Right now it’s the offensive depth that’s the difference.

Los Angeles Lakers

It was an Anthony Davis kind of tilt for L.A. in Game 3 as the big man went off for a team-high 31 while collecting 17 rebounds. Davis and fellow big Jarred Vanderbilt also each swatted away three Grizzlies shots. James was productive behind Davis, scoring 25 and adding nine rebounds.

L.A. had five players reach at least 13 points in the win, once again emphasizing how important the scoring outside of Davis and LeBron has been. Rui Hachimura has scored at will this series, putting up another 16 off the bench in Game 3 after 29- and 20-point outings to start the series. When L.A. has this group of scorers all clicking, they’re a legit contender.
