Ja Morant, Grizzlies, 2020

Ja Morant is a big reason for the Grizzlies' improvement. The first year point guard is the favourite to win the NBA Rookie of the Year award (-345) at Sports Interaction. He’s averaging 17.6 points and 6.9 assists per game.

The Los Angeles Clippers suffered their most embarrassing loss of the season when they last played the Memphis Grizzlies. They get their chance to avenge a 26-point home loss when they host rookie sensation Ja Morant and Co. on Monday night.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The 140-114 win in Los Angeles on January 4th sparked a 15-4 straight up run which catapulted the Grizzlies into the playoff chase. Memphis is on pace to finish with a 41-41 record just a year removed from going 33-49.

Ja Morant is a big reason for the improvement. The first year point guard is the favourite to win the NBA Rookie of the Year award (-345) at Sports Interaction. He’s averaging 17.6 points and 6.9 assists per game.

The club is coming off a 117-105 setback against the Lakers on Friday night which makes it two losses in as many games. The Grizzlies are one of the better ATS clubs in the Association at 30-25-1 but they’re just 13-13 against the number on the road this season.

The Clippers aren’t playing their best basketball right now. They lost outright on Saturday night to the Sacramento Kings as 8.5-point home favourites – making them losers in three straight and four of their last five games.

Most NBA fans expect this team will still be a force when the playoffs begin, but it’s hard to argue against the theory that Doc Rivers’ side lacks bite in the regular season. The Clippers are third in the West and the Rockets and Jazz are within striking distance to overtake them in the standings.

Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizz were dealt a blow when they found out second year big man Jaren Jackson Jr. will be out for at least two weeks because of a knee strain. He’s the club’s second leading scorer behind Morant at 16.9 points a night and shooting nearly 40 percent from 3-point range.

Jackson’s absence should mean more minutes for rookie forward Brandon Clarke. The former Gonzaga Bulldog is performing well in his first NBA season averaging 12.3 points and 5.9 rebounds in just 22 minutes per game.

L.A. Clippers

One of the reasons the Clippers have been so underwhelming this season is the lack of Paul George. The six-time All-Star has suited up in just 34 of the Clippers’ 56 games. He missed Saturday night’s game against the Kings because of a hamstring issue and is considered questionable to play on Monday.
