Clippers vs. Nuggets Game 4 Prediction: NBA Playoff Odds, Point Spread

Game 3 of the Denver Nuggets-Los Angeles Clippers was a roller coaster as both teams came ready to play. There were multiple lead changes throughout the game but it was the Denver Nuggets who ended up holding the lead for most of it, being up by as many as 12 points. However, the Los Angeles Clippers were able to stay withing striking distance of the Nuggets and pulled out the 113-107 victory. This game ended up coming down to the middle finger of Kawhi Leonard as the Clippers star had blocked a Jamal Murray dunk attempt in the closing minutes of the game to slam the door shut. The Nuggets will now head into Game 4 down 2-1 but can they rebound?

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The over is 11-2-1 in the Nuggets last 14 games when they allow their opponent to score more than 100 points in the game prior. The over is also 8-2 in their last 10 games following a straight up loss. The Nuggets are 5-0-1 ATS in their past six games after allowing more than 100 points to their opponent in the game before.

The under is 3-0-1 in the Clippers last four playoff games in which they came into the game as the favorite. The under is also 4-0-1 in their last five following an ATS loss. The Clippers are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games when coming in as the favorite but have been just 1-4 ATS in their last five meetings against Denver.

Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers got very good production out of their star duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, with Leonard scoring 23 points and picking up 14 rebounds, and George scoring 32 points and soaking up 12 boards. It was a great sign to see George go out there and score efficiently as he has been very inconsistent throughout his time in the postseason. They got some help as well, with Montrezl Harrell, Lou Williams and Marcus Morris Sr. all scoring in the double figures.

One thing that they have to watch out for is their turnovers and offensive rebounding. The Clippers turned the ball over 17 times in Game 3 and 17 times in Game 2. That number has to decrease or else they are giving the Nuggets free possessions and chances to stay in the game. To go along with second chance points, Denver was able to pick up eight offensive rebounds to their three, and they will need their big men to start boxing out more efficiently to stop second chance points.

Denver Nuggets

Denver was able to have an all-around good performance again in Game 3 but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to win the game. Star big man Nikola Jokic was able to post another insane stat line, totaling 32 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. He didn’t do it alone either as Michael Porter Jr. pitched in a double-double himself with 18 points and 10 rebounds. All five starters were in double figures and overall, the entire team was able to efficiently score and rebound. They just didn’t have enough juice to close the game out.

The main issue was just the fourth quarter where they fell apart. The Clippers defense put the clamps on them and limited them to 19 points. They scored 32 in the first quarter when they seemingly did what they wanted but they got stuck in the mud in the fourth. They have to do a better job of closing out games.
