The Nets return home after getting swept on a five-game road trip, and now ride an eight-game losing streak. Conversely, the Celtics have returned to the playoff picture while winning five straight, capped by Sunday’s crushing 116-83 road win over the Orlando Magic.

Boston is an 8-point favourite to win on the NBA odds, with a total of 213.0.

Celtics vs. Nets NBA Betting Odds

With the backing of 96 per cent of sports bettors, the Celtics have improved to 8-point road favourites after opening at -6.5, while the Nets have dipped to lengthy +244 moneyline underdogs. The total has steadily declined to 213.0 since opening at 216.5, with a massive 83 per cent of the action backing the UNDER.

Tuesday night’s matchup at Barclays Center marks the second of four regular season clashes between these Eastern Conference rivals. The Nets marched to a dominating 123-104 win in Boston as 1.5-point underdogs on November 24, and have now won and covered in six of seven regular season meetings with the Celtics. Brooklyn also romped to an easy first-round victory in five games when these two teams met in last season’s playoffs, with each of their four wins coming by double-digit margins. Overall, the Nets have won and covered in eight straight home dates with Boston, and have seen the UNDER go 10-3 in their past 13 head-to-head home clashes.

The Nets have managed to remain atop the NBA championship odds despite enduring their longest SU losing streak in over two years. The club has fallen to defeat by an average margin of 11.8 points per game during their current 0-8 SU run, with their two most recent losses coming by a combined margin of 43 points. Not surprisingly, the Nets have covered just once in their past eight outings, and are 5-16 ATS in their past 21. Conversely, the Celtics have gone 12-4 SU in their past 16. And while they currently enjoy a middling 8-8 ATS run, the Celtics have gone 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS in their past six while favoured by seven or more on the road.

Boston Celtics

Jaylen Brown led the team in scoring for the third time in six outings in Sunday’s win in Orlando, draining 26 points, and has now averaged 24 points per game over his past four road appearances. Jayson Tatum continues to lead the squad with 25.6 points per game, and has averaged 29.6 points in five road appearances. However, he was limited to just 15 points while shooting 6-for-18 in Sunday’s win.

Brooklyn Nets

Injuries have emerged as a massive concern for the free-falling Nets. The club remains without Kevin Durant and LaMarcus Aldridge. In addition, Kyrie Irving remains ineligible to play home games due to local COVID regulations, and James Harden is listed as questionable as he deals with a hamstring injury. With the superstars on the shelf, rookie shooting guard Cam Thomas has stepped up. The 20-year-old scored a season-high 30 points in last Friday’s 125-102 loss in Utah, and contributed another 20 in Sunday’s 124-104 loss in Denver.
