Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers Prediction, NBA Odds
This is a game of teams trending in opposite directions. Both teams have been off since last Wednesday, when Philly dropped a fifth decision in a row, 100-96 against Brooklyn, while Boston won their third straight game, 116-103 against San Antonio.
The Celtics are 7.5-point favourites to win on the NBA odds, with the total pegged at 223.5.
Celtics vs. 76ers NBA Betting Odds
This is the third of four regular season meetings between the teams this year. The Sixers won 118-104 in Boston on Christmas Day and the Celtics won 118-110 in Philadelphia on Feb. 2. Overall, Boston has won four of the last five head-to-heads, but Philly has covered the spread in three of those games.
Both teams have struggled against the spread this season, with the Celtics at 23-31-1 ATS and the 76ers at 20-24 ATS. Recent trends point toward Boston in this game, however, as they are 4-1 ATS in their last five games while Philadelphia has failed to cover in six straight.
Points could be in the forecast on Thursday as four of the last five head-to-heads have hit the Over. In addition, Boston has hit the Over in five of their last seven games against Atlantic Division opponents.
Boston Celtics
The Celtics have been impressive through the mid-point of the season, holding a 2.5-game lead over the Knicks for second place in the Eastern Conference. The duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown has been the catalyst for Boston’s success. Tatum is averaging team-highs in points (27.0), rebounds (8.7) and assists (5.6) per game, while Brown is second in points (22.9) and leads the team in steals (1.2).
Philadelphia 76ers
Injuries have played a big part in Philadelphia sitting just outside of the play-in tournament. It won’t get any easier on Thursday as the Sixers will be missing Eric Gordon, Kyle Lowry and Justin Edwards, although Joel Embiid and Paul George are both expected to play. Tyrese Maxey has carried the bulk of the load for Philly this season, averaging career-highs in points (27.6) and minutes played (38.0) per game.
