Philadelphia 76ers vs. Golden State Warriors Prediction, NBA Odds
The Warriors improved their straight up record to 15-2 with a dominating 119-104 win over the visiting Toronto Raptors on Sunday, which also marked their seventh straight victory on home court at Chase Center. The Sixers look to tally consecutive wins for the first time in almost three weeks after posting a 102-94 victory in Sacramento on Monday night.
Despite their recent dominant play, the Warriors have steadily lost ground since opening as 12-point favourites, and now sit as diminished 10.5-point chalk. However, with the Dubs playing steady defence, and the 76ers struggling to score at times during their current 2-6 run, the total has also dipped to 216 since opening at 219.
76ers vs. Warriors NBA Betting Odds
Wednesday night’s matchup marks the first meeting of the season between these two clubs. Road teams prevailed as the Sixers and Warriors split their two-game season series in 2020/2021, capped by the Warriors’ decisive 107-96 win as 4.5-point road underdogs in Philadelphia back on April 19.
Overall, Golden State has dominated in head-to-head action against the 76ers, claiming outright victories in 14 of 18 matchups since March 2012. Golden State has struggled to consistently reward loyal sports bettors during that stretch, covering just eight times overall during that stretch including a middling 5-4 against the spread run on home hardwood. However, the Warriors have been a steady bet so far this season, going 10-1-1 against the spread in their past 12. They have also won and covered in five straight while pegged as double-digit home favourites.
Philadelphia 76ers
Injuries have emerged as a massive problem for the 76ers in the early weeks of the new season. In addition to being without enigmatic star Ben Simmons, who remains suspended by the team, the Sixers will also be missing Joel Embiid, who remains sidelined after testing positive for COVID-19 earlier this month.
The status of veteran power forward Tobias Harris also remains uncertain, as he deals with a nagging hip injury. However, the club has been fortunate to see Tyrese Maxey fill the void on the Philadelphia attack. Maxey has averaged 25.4 points per game in seven outings this month, while leading the team in scoring on four occasions, and is a current nominee for NBA Player of the Week honours.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors cemented their position as the NBA’s highest scoring team so far this season with Sunday’s rout of the Raptors. The club has been particularly prolific on home hardwood, averaging 122.3 points per game over their past seven dates at Chase Center, and have claimed victory by an average margin of over 20 points during an 8-0 run at home.
Stephen Curry continues to lead the team with 28.4 points per game, and has drained 40 points twice over his past five outings. However, it has been third-year shooting guard Jordan Poole that has fueled the attack in the Warriors’ past two contests, averaging 32.5 points per game in this past weekend’s win over Detroit and Toronto.
