UFC Fight Night Odds, Prediction: Mackenzie Dern vs. Hannah Cifers
The first fight of the UFC on ESPN 9 main card on Saturday night from Las Vegas features Americans Mackenzie Dern and Hannah Cifers from the strawweight division. It should begin at 9 p.m. ET, and here are the Sports Interaction UFC odds.
The 27-year-old Dern (7-1) is a former top-ranked International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation competitor and world champion in that discipline. She grew up in Arizona but travelled often to her father’s native Brazil. She actually speaks more Portuguese than English: “Anything to do with fight is all in Portuguese in my mind.”
After stops in a few MMA organizations, Dern made her UFC debut in March 2018 with a split decision victory over Ashley Yoder. In her night fight in May of that year, Dern was way over the allowed strawweight limit (proceeded at catchweight and she was fined a substantial amount) when she took on and beat Amanda Bobby Cooper by first-round submission (rear-naked choke).
Coincidence or not, Dern then went on maternity leave – having a daughter June 9, 2019. She returned in October 2019 and lost to Amanda Ribas by unanimous decision.

Cifers lost by second-round TKO (elbows and punches). She followed that with back-to-back wins but lost in January by second-round TKO (elbows and punches) vs. Angela Hill.
