UFC 193 Main Fight Card
Ronda Rousey vs. Holly Holm
Records: Rousey (12-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC), Holm (9-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC)
Division: Women’s bantamweight
UFC 193 Odds: Rousey -2000 Holm +900
Odds Rousey Wins by Armbar: -165
Odds Rousey wins in less than one minute: +165
Prediction: Rousey by Submission
Don’t expect any surprises here. Rousey knows she’s up against a great hitter who also happens to be a kickboxing champion, so she’ll very likely rely on her tried and true armbar to finish this one within the first round.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Valerie Letourneau
Records: Jedrzejczyk (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC), Letourneau (8-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC)
Division: Strawweight
UFC 193 Odds: Jedrzejczyk -2250, Letourneau +950
Prediction: Jedrzejczyk by Decision
Letourneau is a good fighter, and has been getting better with every match-up, including impressive battles against Jessica Rakoczy and Maryna Moroz. That said, she might not be ready for the awesome striking power of the defending champion, who will win this fight, even if it means taking it all the way to the final round.
Mark Hunt vs. Antonio Silva
Records: Hunt (10-10-1 MMA, 5-4-1 UFC), Silva (19-7-1 MMA, 3-4-1 UFC)
Division: Heavyweight
UFC 193 Odds: Hunt -275, Silva +200
Prediction: Hunt by Decision
There’s a lot of excitement about this rematch between these two heavy hitters. When they fought in 2013 it was considered one of the greatest heavyweight fights in MMA history, going for a heart and face-pounding 25 minutes before ending in a draw. Because both of these fighters are in the twilight of their careers, its tough to call a sure bet winner, but I’ll pick the heavier hitting Mark Hunt to prevail.
Uriah Hall vs. Robert Whittaker
Records: Hall (12-5 MMA, 5-3 UFC), Whittaker (14-4 MMA, 5-2 UFC)
Division: Middleweight
UFC 193 Odds: Hall -140, Whittaker +110
Prediction: Hall by TKO
Two aggressive strikers facing off always makes for an exciting fight, and this one should be no exception. These two are closely matched, as the odds show, meaning this is anyone’s match. Both have KO power, so it’ll come down to who presses the action. I’m picking Uriah Hall to take this, as his technique seems more polished than Whittaker’s.
Jared Rosholt vs. Stefan Struve
Records: Rosholt (13-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC), Struve (26-7 MMA, 10-5 UFC)
Division: Heavyweight
UFC 193 Odds: Struve -130, Rosholt +100
Prediction: Rosholt by Decision
Jared Rosholt is a wrestler, and tends to win matches by methodically wearing his opponents down and then winning by decision. It isn’t that exciting, and although there’s hope that the 7-foot tall grappler Stefan Struve might be able to out-maneuver Rosholt, my bets are on Rosholt to follow his winning method in this heavyweight brawl.
