UFC 191: Betting Odds and Predictions
The UFC makes it return to the glittering lights of Las Vegas tomorrow with a highly anticipated rematch for the headline fight. Flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson will defend his title against John “The Magician” Dodson at UFC 191 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
There are several other fights on this card that are sparking interest for UFC fans, including a light heavyweight bout between Anthony “Rumble” Johnson and Jimi “Poster Boy” Manuwa, as well as a trip down memory lane with a fight between Andrei Arlovski and Frank Mir.

Demetrious Johnson (22-2-1) vs. John Dodson (17-6)
Betting Odds: Johnson -625; Dodson +400
The safe bet here is clearly Demetrious Johnson, who is a more consistent fighter over all, and has already beaten Dodson in a five-round decision fight back in January 2013. To stand a chance, Dodson will have to come out strong and get an early finish, which seems unlikely given Johnson’s pressure and prowess in the cage. Mighty Mouse has also won his last five fights, so he’s riding a wave that, if he takes this one, will have him tying Jose Aldo for 4th place on the UFC’s successful title defense list.
Prediction: Demetrious Johnson by Unanimous Decision
Frank Mir (18-9) vs. Andrei Arlovski (24-10)
Betting Odds: Mir +140; Arlovski -180
This veteran battle was supposed to happen ten years ago, but was cancelled after Mir broke his leg. Ten years is a long delay, so this bout has plenty of fans excited to see which of these previous champs still has fight in him. Mir has spent the last couple years honing some impressive boxing skills to compliment his legendary jiu jitsu skills, whereas Arlovski will rely on what he’s best at: heavy-duty striking power.
Prediction: Arlovski by KO
Anthony Johnson (19-5) vs. Jimi Manuwa (15-1)
Betting Odds: Manuwa +450; Anthony Johnson -700
These two light heavyweight brawlers could very well provide the most exciting fight of the night, since they are both known to come out strong and to get things bloody. That said, Manuwa might just be too fresh at this stage in his career, and Johnson has something to prove after losing to Daniel Cormier at UFC 187. Look for this one to be finished early.
Prediction: Johnson by TKO
Jan Blachowicz (18-4) vs. Corey Anderson (5-1)
Betting Odds: Anderson +130; Blachowicz -165
This light heavyweight division features one of winners of the Ultimate Fighter, Corey Anderson, versus the odds favored Jan Blachowicz who is fighting out of the up-and-coming MMA scene in Poland. These are well-matched fighers, which means that this one could last a while. Anderson has a ton of endurance, but Blachowicz has a more diverse skill set, and that might make the difference in this fight.
Prediction: Blachowicz by TKO
Paige VanZant (5-1) vs. Alex Chambers (5-2)
Betting Odds: Chambers +850; VanZant -1500
Alex Chambers would need a miracle to defeat the heavily favored VanZant in this strawweight bout. The UFC is likely grooming VanZant to be the next Strawweight champ, so this fight is essentially a showcase fight for her and should be an easy win.
Prediction: VanZant by TKO
