Jack Della Maddalena UFC 284 Odds

Leon Edwards is the current UFC welterweight champion, and Della Maddalena, a former rugby player, is unranked. The 26-year-old is from Perth – his home is about a 15-minute drive from RAC Arena — so obviously will have the fans in his corner. Della Maddalena is 13-2 in a pro career dating to 2016 when he lost his first two bouts in the Eternal MMA organization, obviously not having lost since.

Della Maddalena beat Ange Loosa by unanimous decision in September 2021 in Dana White’s Contender Series 39, and that earned the Aussie a UFC contract. He has since won his three bouts all by first-round TKO (punches), last in November against Danny Roberts to earn a second straight Performance of the Night bonus. ESPN named Della Maddalena as its 2022 UFC Rookie of the Year and Cageside Press named him as co-Newcomer of the Year.

The 5-foot-11 Della Maddalena has a reach of 73 inches and his fights average just 5:59. He lands 8.45 significant strikes per minute with 50 per cent accuracy and absorbs 4.22 with 67 per cent defence. His takedown average is literally zero, and his takedown defence is 71 per cent. Della Maddalena has 11 wins by KO/TKO, one by submission and one by decision. His loses are by KO/TKO and submission.

Della Maddalena’s favoured method of victory Saturday is by KO/TKO/DQ at -175, followed by decision at +250 and submission +1800.

“I’m going to go after him from the get go,” Della Maddalena said of his plans vs. Brown. “I’m going to try to get him out of there in the first round – and if not it’ll be in the second. … ‘After that my goals for 2023 is to fight three or four more times in 2023 and be deep in that top ten at welterweight by the end of the year.”

To win in Round 1, he’s +125 and Round 2 is +300.

Randy Brown UFC 284 Odds

The 32-year-old Brown, born in the USA but of Jamaican descent, is also unranked as a welterweight and is 16-4 in a career dating to 2014. He was the welterweight champion in the Ring of Combat organization in 2015. Brown was featured on “Dana White’s Looking for a Fight” where he knocked out Robert Plotkin at Ring of Combat 53 and signed by the UFC shortly after.

“Rude Boy” is 10-4 in the UFC and won his fourth fight in a row in October, via unanimous decision over then-44-year-old Francisco Trinaldo, who finally got Brown to the ground in Round 3, but Brown was able to defend himself and survive the round to win. Since the start of 2019, Brown is 6-1 with his only loss against Vicente Luque.

At 6-foot-3, Brown is big for a welterweight with a reach of 78 inches, five more than Della Maddalena, and his fights average 10:53. Brown lands 4.38 significant strikes per minute with 48 per cent accuracy and absorbs 3.25 with 54 per cent defence. His takedown average is 0.69 per 15 minutes with 33 per cent accuracy, and his takedown defence is 71 per cent.

Brown has six wins by KO/TKO, five by decision and five by submission with two losses via KO/TKO, one by submission and one by decision. For Saturday, his favoured method of victory is by decision at +400, followed by submission at +850, KO/TKO/DQ at +1000 and draw +5000.

The over-under is 2.5 round with the under a -145 favourite. That it does the distance is +154 with no -236.
