It’s official. Georges St-Pierre will face UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping for his much-anticipated return to the UFC. Sports Interaction’s MMA odds had Bisping listed as a +115 favorite to be St-Pierre’s first opponent, and UFC President Dana White made the announcement confirming that match-up earlier today on SportsCenter. Georges St-Pierre is currently listed as the -150 favorite.
St-Pierre vs. Bisping Betting Odds Updates
St-Pierre is now 35-years-old, and it’ll be over three years since his last appearance in the Octagon, when he left the sport as the Welterweight champ after defending his title and getting a split decision against Johny Hendricks in late 2013.
Throughout the course of his second championship reign, St-Pierre defended his belt nine times, which was a UFC record. St-Pierre, who holds a 25-2 record and Bisping, who is currently at 30-7, are expected to appear in Las Vegas later this week for a press conference. Although an official date and venue have yet to be announced, the UFC is hoping to have the fight take place in the latter half of 2017.
In a recent interview, Bisping expressed his desire to fight St-Pierre, saying:
“The only reason I’m saying Georges St-Pierre is because I know he wants to fight me, and I was offered a fight with him. That’s the only reason he’s in my mind. If I wasn’t offered a fight with him [in 2016], I wouldn’t be thinking Georges St-Pierre…So in a perfect world, I fight Georges St-Pierre, I will beat Georges St-Pierre, I will not be injured in that fight Georges because Georges never injures anybody in a fight, and then I will do a quick turnaround, within six weeks I will fight Yoel Romero. That’s what he wants, that’s what he’ll get. I’ll guarantee you right now, hand on my heart.”
