Augusto Sakai UFC Fight Night 220 Odds

There currently is no heavyweight champion in the UFC – that will be rectified next month – and the 31-year-old Sakai, from Brazil, is not ranked in the division. He has a professional record of 15-5-1 dating to 2011.

Sakai got on the UFC’s radar with a win over Marcos Conrado Jr. in “Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Brazil” in August 2018 and then won his first four official UFC bouts. However, Sakai is 0-4 since, albeit losses to excellent fighters in Alistair Overeem, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Tai Tuivasa and Sergei Spivak. Sakai might be close to the UFC chopping block with another loss here. Ahead of his last fight, a second-round TKO loss to Spivak, Sakai made the move to American Top Team in Florida.

The 6-foot-3 Sakai has a reach of 77 inches and his fights average 10:42. He lands 4.73 significant strikes per minute with 48 per cent accuracy and absorbs 4.07 with 48 per cent defence. His takedown average is 0.13 per 15 minutes with 54 per cent accuracy, and his takedown defence is 54 per cent.

Sakai has 11 wins by KO/TKO and four by decision. Four of his five losses are by KO/TKO. For Saturday, his favoured method of victory is by KO/TKO/DQ at +200, followed by decision at +300 and submission at +6000.

Don’Tale Mayes UFC Fight Night 220 Odds

The 31-year-old Mayes, originally from Louisville and now fighting out of Indiana, is unranked as well and 9-4 in a pro career dating to 2016. He is a former Hoosier FC Heavyweight champion.

“Lord Kong” is unbeaten in his past three fights but took a no contest in his most recent bout vs. Hamdy Abdelwahab in July 2022. Mayes lost the back-and-forth fight via split decision but it was later ruled a no contest after Abdelwahab was suspended by USADA for two years because of a positive test for anabolic agent methenolone and its metabolites. He also was flagged for a tampering violation.

Mayes has fought a lot of rather anonymous guys but did battle current No. 1 ranked heavyweight contender Ciryl Gane at UFC Fight Night 162 in October 2019 and lost by third-round submission (heel hook).

The 6-foot-6 Mayes has a reach of a whopping 81 inches and his fights average 11:47. He lands 3.65 significant strikes per minute with 45 per cent accuracy and absorbs 3.84 with 43 per cent defence. His takedown average is 1.11 per 15 minutes with 53 per cent accuracy, and his takedown defence is 57 per cent. Mayes has five wins by KO/TKO, three by decision and one by submission. Two of his four losses are via submission.

For Saturday, he’s +260 to win by KO/TKO/DQ, +350 by decision and +800 by submission. A draw is +5000. That the fight goes the distance is +155 with no at -190.
