Aspen Ladd vs. Sara McMann: UFC Fight Night 210 Odds, Prediction
It’s an all-American matchup at women’s bantamweight on the UFC Fight Night 210 card from Las Vegas on Saturday when Aspen Ladd faces Sara McMann. Ladd is a short -130 favourite to win on the MMA odds, with McMann at +100. It’s scheduled for three rounds.
Aspen Ladd UFC Fight Night 210 Odds
Amanda Nunes is the current women’s bantamweight champion, and the 27-year-old Ladd, from California, is 9-3 and ranked seventh. She has had trouble previously making weight at bantamweight. Before going pro in mixed martial arts, she had a record of 16-1 between kickboxing and amateur MMA.
Ladd began her career in Invicta FC and is 4-3 in the UFC. She comes off a unanimous decision loss to Raquel Pennington in April. Pennington was a short-notice replacement for Irene Aldana.
Ladd was originally to fight McMann last month at UFC on ESPN 41, but Ladd tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to withdraw from the event. The 5-foot-6 Ladd averages 10:58 of fight time. She lands 3.78 significant strikes per minute with 47 per cent accuracy and absorbs 4.65 per minute with 47 per cent defence. Her takedown average is 1.56 per 15 minutes with 47 per cent accuracy, and her takedown defence is 62 per cent.
She has six wins by KO/TKO, two by decision and one by submission. Ladd’s three knockout victories in UFC women’s bantamweight competition are tied for the second-most in divisional history behind Nunes (six). Two of Ladd’s three losses are via judges. She has never fought for a title and is trending in the wrong direction to do so in the UFC on the first losing streak of her career.
Sara McMann UFC Fight Night 210 Odds
The 41-year-old McMann, who also fights out of California, is 13-6 and ranked eighth in the division. She became the first American woman in history to receive a silver medal in Olympic wrestling, which she won at the 2004 Summer Games in Athens, Greece, and was an inductee in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Class of 2022. She also won a few medals in world championships.
McMann did fight Ronda Rousey for a UFC title back in 2014 but lost in the first round. She is 2-3 in her past five bouts overall and comes into Saturday off a unanimous decision win over Karol Rosa in March.
The 5-foot-6 McMann’s fights average 10:41. She lands 2.2 significant strikes per minute with 46 per cent accuracy and absorbs 1.92 with 47 per cent defence. McMann averages 4.38 takedowns per 15 minutes with 65 per cent accuracy, and her takedown defence is 50 per cent.
Seven of her wins are by decision, five by submission and just one by KO/TKO. Four of her six losses were via submission. This will be McMann’s 14th UFC women’s bantamweight bout, tied with Nunes for the second-most appearances in divisional history behind Pennington (15). McMann’s seven victories in UFC women’s bantamweight competition are tied for third-most in divisional history behind Nunes (12) and Pennington (10). Finally, McMann’s 27 takedowns in UFC women’s bantamweight competition are the most in divisional history.
Both Ladd and McMann have a reach of 66 inches.
