Andre Muniz vs Brendan Allen: UFC Fight Night 220 Odds, Prediction
Two fighters with stellar records are coming into the match hot. The Brazilian Muniz is 23-4 overall, whereas his opposite number, Brendan Allen, has earned himself a 20-5 tally thus far.
It’s Muniz with some decent chalk marked down in his favour for this fight. His name is perched at -190 as per the MMA odds. For his part, Allen sits at +160.
Andre Muniz
The Montes Claros native who represents Tata Fight Monte Claros has an enviable history to back his credentials. One of his most notable accomplishments came at UFC 262 in May 2021. He was pitted against multiple-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion Ronaldo Souza. Much to everyone’s surprise, chief among them Souza himself, Muniz won via technical submission in the second round. It was the first time anyone at all had vanquished Souza in that fashion.
While the next couple of bouts did not cause the same stir or hubbub, the important thing was they were more wins for the one they call “Sergipano.” UFC 269 in December 2021 offered a bit of a twist when Dricus du Plessis had to pull out late, replaced by Eryk Anders. It didn’t make much of a difference, as the Brazilian conquered his foe via submission in the initial stanza. Most recently he danced with Uriah Hall at UFC 276 in July of last year after their bout was displaced from its original date in April. A unanimous decision favoured Muniz.
The last result, a decision, corroborates with how most of his fights are decided. A whopping 62 per cent conclude with decisions by the judges. Both these fighters spend quite a bit of time in the ring (8:06 to Allen’s 8:20), so endurance isn’t an issue. It should be noted that Muniz is one of the fighters who lands the fewest critical hits per 60 seconds with only 1.91. By the same token, he’s a tough customer to hit, as he only receives 1.45 a minute. He is, however, much more proficient at grappling, taking down opponents 3.71 times every 15 minutes to Allen’s 1.31.
Brendan Allen
Hailing from South Carolina and repping Clementi Gladiator Academy, Brendan Allen is also riding a nice success streak. He too has clashed and conquered his last three bouts.
About a year ago in February 2022 at UFC Fight Night 200 Sam Alvey was the challenger, but Allen took care of business thanks to a rear-naked choke submission in the sophomore round. Then, in June of the same year at UFC 275, the fighter nicknamed “All In” came face to face with Jacob Malkoun. Although both contestants put in a solid night, the judges felt, unanimously, that Allen was the better battler. Finally, his most recent bout transpired last October for UFC Fight Night: Den vs Yan, which saw him take on Krzysztof Jotko. The latter was no match for a rear-naked choke in the very first round, thus awarding the American a win via submission.
There is no doubt that “All In” is much more ferocious with respect to significant attacks per minute. He manages to land 3.99, more than double what Muniz musters. On the flip side, by trying to hit so much, he slackens his defences, at least judging by the 4.01 he suffers every 60 seconds on average. If Muniz gets wins by decision quite frequently, consider Allen who walks way victorious in that fashion a full 71 per cent of the time. Neither fighter is known for KO/TKOs (8 per cent for Muniz to 9 for Allen).
