New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles: Odds, Prediction

In an AL East tilt to kick off the new week, the New York Yankees head to Baltimore to take on the Orioles in a three-game early-week set.

The Yankees are a game back of the Tampa Bay Rays at the top of the division, while the Orioles are a half-game ahead of the Boston Red Sox for the AL East cellar.

Baltimore has gotten off to a slow start, which, with their young talent, has to be a bit disappointing. Meanwhile, the Yankees have been cruising with their power and excellent starting pitching.

Monday’s game should be a good one, so let’s break it all down and provide our best bet for the game.

New York is a -160 favourite to win on the MLB odds, with the total set at 9.0.

Betting Analysis

The game total for the Yankees has gone under in four of the last five games, and their bats went quiet in this weekend’s series in Milwaukee, as they scored just six runs in the three-game set.

As for the Orioles, same thing. Four of the last five games for the Orioles have seen the game total hit the under here.

It’s two recently sputtering offences, but offences that can go off at any time. While Baltimore has a middle-of-the-road OPS (.704 – 16th in MLB) to start the year, the Yankees (.774) are third in baseball.

New York Yankees

The Yankees have operated with a four-man rotation this season thanks to early off days to start the season, but their quartet of Max Fried, Cam Schlittler, Will Warren, and Ryan Weathers has given them plenty of quality starts to begin the 2026 campaign. The team has a 3.14 team ERA, and that’s without Carlos Rodon and Gerrit Cole anchoring the rotation.

Of course, you can’t have the Yankees without bats like Aaron Judge (16 home runs, 30 RBI) and Ben Rice (12 HR, 27 RBI), but much has been talked about with the team sending shortstop Anthony Volpe to AAA and leaving Jose Caballero installed at short for now.

Baltimore Orioles

Baltimore lost two of three to the Athletics this past weekend at home, but won the game on Sunday, 2-1, to avoid the sweep. One thing that has been alarming for the Orioles is Gunnar Henderson, whose 2024 campaign almost won him an MVP, but his 2025 season with just 17 home runs and 68 RBI was disappointing. To start 2026, Henderson is striking out at an alarming rate and will assuredly crest 200 strikeouts at this pace.

Offseason signing Pete Alonso has been solid with eight home runs so far, but is hitting just .214 with a .748 OPS.  The Orioles are starting to get the vibe of chronic underachievers with the abundance of young talent they have, so this team will have to start turning on the jets quickly or risk having to make some shrewd moves like a Henderson trade that’s been brought up in recent weeks.

MLB Prediction: Who Will Win Yankees vs. Orioles?

The Yankees will trot out Ryan Weathers and his 3.03 ERA to face tall 6-foot-6 righthander Brandon Young and the Orioles on Monday. With both teams backsliding a bit with their run production, it feels like the Yankees have to be able to break something open here. That’s exactly what I’m predicting, as this offence is much too good to be kept down for long against an average pitcher like Young and a mediocre overall Orioles club.

For this game, we’ll go with the Yankees to take the opening game of the series in Camden Yards.
