Frank Doyle previews all the matchups in Major League Baseball this weekend!

Arizona Diamondbacks at Detroit Tigers. The Diamondbacks are 0.5 games clear of the Giants in the NL West, the Tigers are one game behind Cleveland in the AL Central. This will be close, except for Saturday. Justin Verlander is up for the Tigers on Saturday, and nobody’s getting much change out of him.

Boston Red Sox at Pittsburgh Pirates. We wondered last week if the Pirates could catch a break but their awful interleague record continues. Boston sweep is the MLB betting choice here.

Cincinnati Reds at Baltimore Orioles. This could be a good series for over bettors. The pitching won’t be very frightening.

Colorado Rockies at New York Yankees. The Rockies will feel a long way from home in the Bronx. There’s an interesting matchup tonight, when Ubaldo Jimenez faces the inconsistent AJ Burnett, but Sabathia will mop up any survivors on Saturday.

Oakland A’s at Philadelphia Phillies. Nostalgic baseball fans will love this matchup, thinking back to Connie Mack and the $100,000 infield of the Philadelphia Athletics when the only juice in baseball was in spittoons fromm chaws of tabaccy. More new-timey baseball fans will think about Trevor Cahill against Cole Hamels on Saturday, and make their bets appropriately.

New York Mets at Texas Rangers. The Rangers are in a better place than the Mets right now. And they have Josh Hamilton back in the lineup.

Tampa Bay Rays at Houston Astros. Rays sweep. Pity nobody at home cares though.

Chicago Cubs at Kansas City Royals. They can’t both lose. Can they?

Minnesota Twins at Milwaukee Brewers. This is a good series. The Twins have swung their season around, and are now back in the hunt for the AL Central, while Milwaukee looks good on offense and defense.

Washington Nationals at Chicago White Sox. If Adam Dunn ever feels like letting the big dog lose for his new team, this weekend would be a really good time to make a start.

Toronto Blue Jays at St Louis Cardinals. The injury to Albert Pujols is the last thing the Cards need. Still too good for Toronto though – St Louis is the most under-rated team in the Major Leagues.

Atlanta Braves at San Diego Padres. Braves.

LA Angels at LA Dodgers. Sad to see both LA teams doing so badly.

Seattle Mariners at Florida Marlins. The Mariners are a really good betting prospect to win the AL West. The Marlins won’t be fire-selling a World Series winning team this year, whatever else becomes of them.

Cleveland at San Francisco. The trip to San Francisco is the start of a nine-game trip for the Indians. June has not been kind to the Indians, who are suddenly struggling after their strong start. The Giants’ offense is poor – behind even the Padres in National League runs scored – but their pitching is stellar. Giants win, and more bad news is visited on the good people of Ohio.
