Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves: MLB Odds, Prediction
Friday’s MLB slate will feature 14 games, one of which will be an NL East rivalry between the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves. The expected first pitch is at 7:15 PM ET on Apple TV, and it will be played at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia.
It is important to note that the Braves and Phillies played a three-game series last weekend in Philadelphia. Atlanta swept this series, winning by an average margin of 4.3 runs per game.
MLB Betting Analysis
As expected, given the form of both teams, the Braves are the favourite on the MLB odds board this Friday night matchup. However, it’s not by a huge margin, as the Braves are -130 favourites and the Phillies are +110 underdogs.
Naturally, because the Braves are moneyline favourites, they are -1.5 on the run line (+160), while the Phillies are +1.5 on the run line (-194).
In terms of the total, it has been set at 8.5 total runs. The over carries odds of -124, while the under is set at +102.
Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies enter this game with a record of 8-17 and have fallen to last place in the NL East. In fact, the Phillies are in the midst of a nine-game losing streak, which includes a three-game sweep to the Braves last weekend. They are 1-9 over their last 10 games.
Starting this game for the Phillies will be Andrew Painter, who is 1-1 on the season with a below average ERA of 4.42. His most recent start was against this same Braves team in Philadelphia, where he allowed three earned runs and lasted just 4.0 innings.
Atlanta Braves
The Braves, on the other hand, continue to be one of the hottest teams in the league. They enter this game with a record of 18-8 – good for first place in the NL East. Further, they have yet to lose a single series this season, further showing how consistent they have been.
Starting this game for the Braves will be Grant Holmes, who has a record of 1-1 and a decent ERA of 3.42. His most recent start was against the Phillies, and he allowed two earned runs over 4.2 innings.
Who Will Win Phillies vs. Braves?
Strangely enough, we will see the same starting pitching matchup as we did this past Sunday night. Holmes outpitched Painter in that game, and the same result looks likely here.
Atlanta’s offence has simply been far superior to Philadelphia’s, averaging 5.8 runs per game – which is top in the league. Further, the Braves have the best bullpen in the league, so for those reasons, I’m backing Atlanta to win 6-3.
