Over 71 games, Conforto is hitting .236 with a team-best 12 home runs. Conforto was 0-for-4 with one strikeout on Tuesday. There’s been no update on his status ahead of Thursday’s series finale.
Keaton Winn is slated to make his first MLB start for San Francisco on Thursday. The 25-year-old rookie’s first three career appearances have all come in relief, although they have each lasted at least three innings. He has a 3.75 ERA over 12 major league innings, with nine strikeouts and one save. Winn pitched as a starter in nine of 12 Triple-A appearances this season.
Toronto Blue Jays
Toronto put things away early on Wednesday, hitting four doubles in a five-run first inning. It was the Jays’ third win in four games, giving them a 44-37 record at the midway point of the season. They currently sit fourth in the AL East and hold the third wild-card spot. Alek Manoah, who was Toronto’s opening day starter, doesn’t look anywhere close to returning to the lineup. In his first appearance in the rookie-level Florida Complex League, Manoah was shelled, allowing 11 runs and 10 hits in just 2.3 innings of work.
Chris Bassitt gets the ball for the Blue Jays on Thursday. Bassitt has struggled with consistency this season, posting a 7-5 record with a 4.32 ERA, the second-highest ERA of his career. The 34-year-old gave up four runs on five hits and two walks over four innings in his last outing on June 23 against Oakland. He struck out four in that appearance. It was the third straight start Bassitt hasn’t lasted more than five innings. He’s allowed 15 earned runs and four homers in just 11.2 innings over that stretch.
