Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Houston Astros: Odds, Prediction
Tuesday’s action in the MLB includes an interleague matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros.
This game between the Dodgers and the Astros is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5th and will be played at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas. The first pitch is expected to take place at 8:10 p.m. ET.
My article will give you a full preview of this game, which will include an overview of the current betting odds, both teams, and my best bet.
Betting Analysis
Looking at the current betting odds, we immediately see that the Dodgers are heavily favoured. As it stands, Los Angeles is a -205 favourite on the MLB odds, while Houston is an underdog and has odds of +172 to pull off the upset.
In terms of the runline, the Dodgers are -1.5 and have odds of +125, while the Astros are +1.5 with odds of +104 to only lose by one run.
As for the over/under, which is set at 8.5 total runs, you can bet the over at odds of -108, while the under carries odds of -112.
Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers enter this game with one of the best records in baseball. After the Game 1 win over the Astros, Los Angeles is now 22-13. That said, as good as their record looks, the Dodgers have been slumping lately and are 5-5 over their last 10 games.
Starting Game 2 for the Dodgers will be Shohei Ohtani, who is 2-1 on the season and has an ERA of 0.60. Ohtani has been at his best in two away starts, having yet to allow an earned run over 12.0 innings, suggesting he could have similar success against the Astros.
Houston Astros
The Astros’ struggles continued on Monday night, as the loss makes them 14-22 on the season. Houston will be looking to tie this series in Game 2, as they will be starting Peter Lambert. The right-hander has a record of 1-2 and an ERA of 3.52.
Lambert’s only start at home this season was a rough one, as he allowed four earned runs over 5.0 innings, giving him an ERA of 7.20.
Further, Lambert is 0-3 against Los Angeles in his career, and has allowed 27 earned runs in 21.1 innings over seven appearances (five starts).
MLB Prediction: Who Will Win Dodgers vs. Astros?
Even though the Dodgers have not been at their best recently, there is still little reason to believe they will not beat the Astros for the second consecutive day.
Houston’s offence has been fairly consistent so far this season; however, as a team, its pitching has an ERA of 5.75 (30th in the MLB). In comparison, Los Angeles has a team ERA of 3.22 (third in the MLB).
On top of that, Houston’s starter, Lambert, has a career 11.39 ERA against Los Angeles. Given his struggles against the Dodgers, backing LA to win 6-2 is my prediction.
