Jays vs. Tigers July 7 Betting Analysis
No manager has been fired yet this MLB season but quite possibly Detroit would have canned AJ Hinch had the Tigers been swept at home to begin this week by horrible Oakland, but the Tigers avoided that with Thursday’s blowout win. Hinch probably won’t be back next year, though, as the team had playoff expectations again in 2023 and surely again will fall short. No doubt the club will be a seller (again) ahead of the Trade Deadline.
Detroit lost two of three in Toronto from April 11-13. Matt Chapman was 4-for-7 in the series with a double, solo homer and three runs. Brandon Belt was 4-for-8 with two doubles. Alejandro Kirk had a homer and five RBIs. The Tigers hit only .184 in the series. Nick Maton was the lone Detroit batter to do much, going 4-for-11 with two homers and four RBIs.
The Jays have gone 2-1 in Detroit each of the past two seasons. The under is 6-1 in the past seven meetings there.

The Jays come off a unique three-game sweep at the White Sox, winning by a run on Tuesday, then Wednesday’s game was rained out. Toronto then took both games of the doubleheader Thursday – Bo Bichette totaled five hits in them — so the bullpen might be a but overworked. If the Jays have any shot at the pennant, they need Alek Manaoh to return to ace mode as he makes his return to the Show on Friday. It will be the 2022 All-Star’s first appearance since he was sent to the team’s Florida Complex League on June 6 after he couldn’t get out of the first inning against the Houston Astros on June 5, allowing six runs and seven hits in a third of an inning. Manaoh was rather inconsistent on his minor-league assignment and is a brutal 1-7 with a 6.36 ERA on the season with Toronto. He took a no-decision vs. Detroit on April 11, allowing three runs over 4.1 innings, and has a 5.06 ERA in 16 career innings against the Tigers. The Jays are 9-4 in their past 13 Friday games.
Detroit Tigers
Detroit ended a two-game skid with a 9-0 home rout of Oakland on Thursday afternoon. All-Star pitcher Michael Lorenzen combined with three relievers on a four-hitter. The Tigers are usually very offensively challenged because two of their best hitters, outfielders Akil Baddoo and Riley Greene, have been on the injured list for a while. Baddoo will return Friday and Greene, probably the team’s most talented player, might be back by Saturday. Baddoo hit .231 with three home runs, 24 walks and 34 strikeouts in 50 games with the Tigers before going down. Right-hander Alex Faedo (1-3, 5.54) will be activated off the injured list (fingernail) and start Friday on the mound. His last MLB start was May 30 when Faedo allowed six runs and seven hits over 4.1 innings in a loss to Texas. The 27-year-old completed 3⅓ innings Sunday in his first rehab assignment with Toledo. “I should be able, if everything goes good, to get five (innings),” Faedo said of Friday. He has never faced Toronto. The Tigers are 6-2 in their past eight at home vs. teams with a winning record.
