Without further, what do “Gibby” and Bastl have to say about the mesmerizing Bo Bichette?
Big Value in Bo Bichette MVP Odds
Ah yes, when it comes to the Blue Jays’ top-calibre shortstop it is indeed a case of the hits just keep on coming. As of Tuesday, May 2, Bichette has tallied 43 hits, leading all players in the majors. Nipping at his heels is Atlanta Braves right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr. with 41. All those successful visits to the plate have landed Bo in fourth place in MLB for batting average with a sparkling .344.
Bastl pries Gibbons as to why the shortstop is so good right now, and “Gibby” basks in the player’s greatness.
“(jokingly) Why are you so surprised, David? He’s put up tremendous numbers for a young kind and for a shortstop. He’s like Vladdy Jr. They’re hitters.”
Bastl reminds the former Blue Jays manager that in one of their early season conversations, Gibbons pegged Bichette as a potential MVP candidate. So far, the prediction is rather legit. Bichette is currently set north of +4000 to win the award, well back of favourite Shohei Ohtani.
“It’s a pretty good one-two punch (with Vladimir Guerrero Jr.) they should have for many years if they empty up the bank for them.”
Vladdy Jr. isn’t having too bad a campaign either, what with his .304 hitting average, 35 hits and five home runs. He’s set at +1204 to win the AL MVP.
