Super Saver is 2010 Kentucky Derby Winner
After Endorsement was scratched from the Kentucky Derby last Wednesday after suffering an ankle fracture during a workout and was replaced by Make Music for Me, Super Saver, ridden by Calvin Borel, prevailed on the sloppy track at Churchill Downs, taking home the win for the 2010 Kentucky Derby and earning the first jewel in the Triple Crown.
With Lookin at Lucky and Super Saver leading with the best odds at 8-1, while Ice Box, Devil May Care and Sidney’s Candy followed at 10-1 odds, Super Saver‘s win was not an upset.
The grandstands at Churchill Downs were filled with spectators in their Derby hats as the Win/Place/Show finishers crossed the line, completing first leg of the Triple Crown. However, moments before the horses ran the rains subsided and the sun appeared, which was actually a detriment for jockeys as not only did they have mud on their goggles, but the sun also hindered their vision. The top three finishers for the 2010 Kentucky Derby are Super Saver, Ice Box and Paddy O’Prada.
The Kentucky Derby is one of the USA’s oldest Thoroughbred horse races, first run in 1875. Did your Kentucky Derby bets pay off?
