After three years of dating, Tigers Woods and Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn have officially ended their relationship. The break up comes at a trying time for Woods, who’s preparing for the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass next week while also reflecting on his father, Earl Wood’s, passing on May 3rd, 2006.

“Obviously it does affect me. It’s tough, no doubt,” said Woods. I’m not going to lie about that, It is tough. This three-day window is really hard. I haven’t slept. It’s been these three days: May 3rd and through the 5th. [It’s been] just brutal on me.”

Both Vonn and Woods released separate statements on the splitting, saying the split was a mutual decision and credited busy schedules as the main reason why the couple decided to part ways.

“I will always cherish the memories that we created together,” said Vonn on her Facebook account. “Unfortunately, we both lead incredibly hectic lives that force us to spend a majority of our time apart.”

Tiger release a similar statement that reads as if it were written by the same publicist on his website stating that “Unfortunately, we lead very hectic lives and are both competing in demanding sports. It’s difficult to spend time together.” Both stated that admire and respect each other.

Woods and Vonn announced that they were officially a couple in March 2013 after routinely being seen together at each other’s events. Just last month, Vonn was seen supporting Woods as he competed in the 2015 Masters. The couple has always been enthusiastically supportive of each other’s careers, with Woods regularly traveling to see Vonn compete in skiing competitions, including a trip to Italy earlier in 2015 to watch her compete.

Tiger was asked if the off-course distractions have gotten easier or harder to which Woods responded, “That’s kind of how it’s always been. I’ve always had to deal with circumstances on both, deal with stuff outside the ropes, and once you’re inside the ropes, it’s time to tee it up and time to play. Tiger Woods is currently +3300 to win the Players Championship, which begins tomorrow.
