PGA Tour Sanderson Farms Championship: Golf Betting Odds
Sanderson Farms Championship Golf Betting Odds
Sam Burns is favoured on the golf odds.
For many years, this was an opposite-field event but is now a full-fledged tournament with the requisite FedExCup points and a Masters invitation to the winner. Because it’s the week after the Ryder Cup this year and ahead of a popular stop next week in Las Vegas, it’s a pretty watered-down field.
The Country Club of Jackson hosts the event for an eighth time and it’s a par 72 measuring around 7,460 yards. For six straight years, the champion of this tournament was a first-time PGA Tour winner but that ended in 2020 when Spain’s Sergio Garcia won by a stroke over Peter Malnati.
Garcia shot a final-round 67, including essentially a tap-in birdie on the 72nd hole, to finish at 19-under 269 for his first PGA Tour victory since the 2017 Masters. Garcia hasn’t won on the US or European Tour since. Even though he played in the Ryder Cup, Garcia will defend his title. He’s the only Ryder Cup player in the field.
Past Sanderson champs in the field also include Sebastian Munoz (2019), Ryan Armour (2017), Cody Gribble (2016), Malnati (2015), Canada’s Nick Taylor (2014), Scott Stallings (2012), Chris Kirk (2011) and Bill Haas (2010). It has taken at least 16 under par to win here since 2013 when it was renamed the Sanderson Farms Championship.
Sanderson Farms Championship Golf Odds
Sam Burns is the +1400 favourite, which pretty much tells you about the strength of this field. Burns’ best finish here was T3 in 2018. He missed the cut in 2020. Will Zalatoris, Sergio Garcia and Sungjae Im are each +1600. Zalatoris played here for the first time last year and missed the cut. Sergio’s debut here was that 2020 victory. Im was a runner-up in 2019.
Canadians have had more success in this tournament than perhaps any other on U.S. soil. Nick Taylor won in 2014, Richard Zokol in 1992 and Dan Halldorson in 1986. Corey Conners was a runner-up in 2018. Last year, Conners was T17, Roger Sloan T32, Michael Gligic T37, and David Hearn and Nick Taylor missed the cut.
Conners is +2000 this week with Mackenzie Hughes +6000, Taylor Pendrith +6600, Adam Hadwin +10000, Adam Svensson +12100, Sloan +12500, Taylor +15000 and Gligic +27500
Sanderson Farms Championship Golf Predictions
Take Zalatoris and Conners for Top 10s, but the winner is Charley Hoffman at +3000. He finished T22 two weeks ago at the season-opening event and was T6 at this tournament in 2020.
