2023 US Open: PGA Tour Picks, Predictions and Tee Times
Scottie Scheffler tops the US Open odds as a +750 favourite, ahead of reigning Masters Tournament champion at +1000.
This marks the first time the LACC has hosted a pro tournament in 83 years, making for unfamiliar surroundings for most of this weekend’s players. However, there are some notable exceptions in the field, who could offer value to sports bettors looking for value further down the US Open odds.
Here’s a look at some of the best bets to consider ahead of Thursday morning’s tee off at the 2023 US open.
Wyndham Clark Hopes to Enjoy Home Cooking
Wyndham Clark’s breakthrough campaigned continued two weeks ago at the Memorial Tournament. Still smarting from a dismal first-round performance at the PGA Championship that ended with the 29-year-old missing the cut, the Los Angeles native survived some final-round adversity to claim a share of 12th place. That finish should help Clark build on the momentum gained from four finishes among the top six in four of his six appearances immediately preceding the PGA Championship.
Clark should enjoy the benefit of playing in his own backyard this week. The big question facing the 2017 Pac-12 champion is whether he can breakthrough in major tournament play including missing the cut in two previous US Open appearances. But with renewed conference after his rebound at the Memorial, Clark is worth a look as a +553 bet to return to the top ten. He is also a solid +304 to top Corey Conners, Adam Scott, Mito Pereira, and Patrick Reed in group betting.
Homa Tops List of Pac-12 Alumni
Wyndham Clark enjoys some company from fellow Pac-12 alumni at this weekend’s tournament. Topping the list of former Pac-12 stars enjoying somewhat of a homecoming this weekend is Max Homa. The former University of California star returns to The Los Angeles Country Club still in possession of the course record he set when he shot a 61 on his way to claiming the 2013 Pac-12 title.
Homa offers intriguing value as a +3300 bet to claim his first major victory considering he has finished top 10 in two of his past three outings. However, his struggles in major tournaments have continued this season with distant finishes at the Masters and PGA Championship. Groups and first round three ball betting offers few strong options for Homa backers. However, the 32-year-old is worth taking as a +110 underdog in matchup with Tony Finau, who has stumbled badly since winning in Mexico two months ago.
Kim, Rodgers Sport LACC Experience
The 2013 Pac-12 championship field that Max Homa led included three other golfers who will be in the hunt at this weekend’ US Open. In addition to Arizona State’s Jon Rahm, Michael Kim and Patrick Rodgers finished that tournament knotted in 11th place before going on to enjoy success on the PGA Tour.
Kim topped an otherwise disappointing weekend at the RBC Canadian Open by shooting a final round 68 and has also finished among the top ten in two of four outings, and is worth a look as a +149 wager in first round three ball betting against Jordan Smith and Wenyi Ding.
Patrick Rodgers has quietly compiled four top ten finishes and eight among the top 25 and has flirted with the top 30 in his past two US Open appearances, and is worth a value bet as a +1200 wager to claim another top ten.
Picks: Wyndham Clark top ten (+553); Max Homa (+110) vs Tony Finau
