2023 Austrian Grand Prix Prediction: Formula 1 Betting Odds
Verstappen once again dominated last time out, rolling to a wire-to-win victory at the Canadian Grand Prix, and has dominated the first eight races of the season with six wins and two second-place performances.
Not surprisingly, Verstappen has emerged as a massive -395 favourite on the Formula 1 odds to win again this weekend, well ahead of Fernando Alonso at +735, and Sergio Perez at +900.

Lights out at the 2023 Austrian Grand Prix is scheduled for 9:00am ET on Sunday morning at Red Bull Ring. Weather could emerge as a big factor, with rain and below seasonal temperatures forecast throughout the weekend including during Friday qualifying and at race time on Sunday.
Verstappen Vies for Fourth Career Win in Austria
Max Verstappen has set himself apart from the rest of the F1 pack during his spectacular start to the season, and nis a well-earned favourite to extend that dominance to Austria, where he has reached the top of the podium three times over the past five years. And considering he has also claimed the fastest lap on three occasions including two of his four recent victories, it is tough to find value in backing the two-time champ apart from his -111 odds to earn the win and record the fastest lap on Sunday.
Indeed, it is likely to be the performance of Sergio Perez that impacts the fortunes of sports bettors shopping for value on Verstappen. Perez sits second to Verstappen, 69 points back of his Red Bull teammate, and has earned a pair of wins this season. Accordingly, Red Bull leads the way as a +120 bet to produce its fifth double podium finish of the season.
But for that to happen, Perez must overcome his recent woes in qualifying that has seen him fail to advance to Q3 in each of the past three races. However, “Checo” has enjoyed little success on the track at Red Bull Ring, which is not ideal for his driving style. That makes him a risky bet across the board this weekend, apart from his +300 odds to record the fastest lap for the third time this season.
Alonso Aims to Rewrite Losing Narrative in Austria
Fernando Alonso has emerged as the biggest surprise of the 2023 F1 season while reaching the podium in six of the first eight races. The two-time F1 champion maintained that momentum two weeks ago in Montreal with a second-place finish. However, he has been dogged by misfortune in Austria, where has finished higher than 10th just twice in eight appearances, and failed to finish four times.
This time around, Alonso enjoys a car that could lift him back into respectability. However, recent upgrades and a track record of success could give Mercedes a much needed lift this weekend. Lewis Hamilton has flashed old form while reaching the podium in each of the past two races, and is deserving of his short -714 odds to finish top three in Austria for a fifth time.
The more lucrative betting option can be found in the Silver Arrows’ -125 odds to record a double podium finish, considering that George Russell has managed to crack the top five in three of four outings.
