Kate Middleton Lists Anti-Bullying Charity on Wedding Gift Registry
They say the best revenge is success and no one in the world can feel more vindicated than princess-to-be, Kate Middleton.
It is coming to light that Middleton was once the target of bullies when she was a 13-year-old and had to leave Downe House private school during her second term to escape the torment. Her parents then moved her to Marlborough College.
Now, Middleton, who may become the Queen of England one day, is asking guests of her wedding to donate to a charity called Beatbullying in lieu of wedding gifts. Beatbullying is a charity that trains young people to become CyberMentors, which gives them the ability to support to their peers both off and online. CyberMentors is an award-winning peer mentoring social networking site, which has supported over one million kids to date.
Beatbullying is one of 26 charities listed by Kate Middleton and Prince William as a place where their 1,900 guests and thousands of fans can donate to – listing Beatbullying as one of the causes that “resonate with” the couple. Other charities included on their registry are a London Zoo project, several military charities as well as a foundation for terminally-ill children.
Although there’s not much documented on Middleton’s time at Downe House, a fellow classmate told the Daily Mail, “Apparently she had been bullied very badly at her previous school. She certainly looked very thin and pale. She had very little confidence.”
The Daily Mail also reports that once she was removed from Downe House, at Marlborough College, Middleton went on to earn a stellar academic record and her bullying days became an unfortunate memory.
