Perhaps an early Grey Cup preview? Sure, there are plenty of teams in the hunt for this year’s championship, but when the league’s top team faces the defending champions it’s something to take note of.

CFL Odds and Betting

This will be the second and final game of the regular season between these two teams. Back on July 23 in Hamilton, these two teams battled right down to the wire with the Ti-Cats coming out on top 30-23.

Head to head the Stampeders are 6-2 against the spread in the last eight games against the Cats.

Of note, the under has been in play six out of the last seven games played in Calgary when these two teams have hooked up.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats

The Tiger-Cats are coming off a well-deserved bye week with a 9-2 record and top winning percentage in the CFL at .818.

It’s been well over a month since the Ti-Cats lost a game (August 1 at Saskatchewan 24-19). Entering this game, the first of back-to-back games against Alberta based teams (next week they are in Edmonton) Hamilton has won four straight games.

It seemed all hope was lost when Jeremiah Masoli went down with an injury back on August 26, but cue back-up Dane Evans and the Cats remain on top. Evans enters this game with a 4-1 win-loss mark, and is coming off his best game as a CFL player as he went 31-of-37 for 442 yards in a win against the Argos. At one time of this game he completed 19-straight passes.

On Monday the TiCats announced that they have added veteran Running back Tyrell Sutton to the roster. Last season Sutton spent time with the Lions and Alouettes. He will provide insurance to a position that has hampered the team this season.

Calgary Stampeders

Entering the Labour Day long weekend the Stampeders were stumbling with a 5-4 record and trying to find their way in the CFL’s West division. Fast forward two weeks and two wins against the Eskimos the Stampeders are now 7-4 and only four points out of first place in the West division.

Bo Levi Mitchell is a perfect 2-0 since his return from injury going 44-of-68 for 517 yards. His win last weekend was his 72nd of his career, which moves him into first place all-time in franchise history of Quarterback victories.

One of the reasons the Stampeders are playing their best football of the season has been the play of the receiver duo of Reggie Begelton and Eric Rogers. The duo each has seven receiving touchdowns, which is tied for first in the CFL. Begelton is coming off his best game of the season with 10 receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown. He now leads the CFL in receiving yards with 930. He also leads the league in yards after catches category.
