Tiger-Cats vs. RedBlacks Prediction: CFL Week 7 Point Spread, Odds

The Ti-Cats head to the nation’s capital for the second half of this home-and-home series after eking out a 23-20 comeback victory over Ottawa last week, and now trail first-place Montreal by just two points in the standings. With last week’s defeat, the RedBlacks’ current losing streak now sits at three games. Ottawa has also coming out on the losing end in their first two home games of the season and needs at least one point on Sunday to avoid falling into the basement in the overall league standings.

The Tiger-Cats are pegged as slim 1.5-point road favourites on the CFL Week 7 odds. The RedBlacks lag as +100 underdogs on the CFL moneyline and the total is listed at 54.5.

CFL Week 7 Odds and Betting

Sunday night’s date at TD Place Stadium marks the second of three scheduled meetings between these CFL East rivals. With last week’s impressive comeback win, the Tiger-Cats have now claimed victory in 12 of their past 14 regular season matchups with the RedBlacks, but have fallen to defeat in each of their past two visits to Ottawa, both as betting chalk. The RedBlacks have also been the more reliable bet in recent clashes with the Ti-Cats, going 3-1 against the spread in their past four, and have also won outright in three of their past five head-to-head matchups as home underdogs. However, the RedBlacks have consistently let down loyal sports bettors this season, covering just two of six outings while scoring a league-worst 22.2 points per game. Conversely, the Ti-Cats have rediscovered their offensive touch during their 3-0-0 run, averaging 36.3 points per game and have limited opponents to 20 or fewer points twice during their current win streak.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats

For the third time in as many games, the Tiger-Cats took care of business in last week’s win with an impressive offensive performance in the second half, sealing the victory with 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. Overall, this squad has averaged 24.3 points after halftime during their 3-0 run and have seen 69 of their 158 total points this season come in the final frame. Bo Levi Mitchell has swung steadily into form during the current surge. With his 266-yard, two-TD performance last week, Mitchell has now connected on nine scoring passes over the past three games and leads the CFL with 11 touchdowns against just one pick so far this season. Mitchell has developed impressive chemistry with Kenny Lawler, who has piled up 30 receiving yards while making five TD catches over the past two weeks while Time White has averaged 56 receiving yards in the past three games.

Ottawa RedBlacks

Things just went from bad to worse for the RedBlacks in last week’s loss. The feeble Ottawa attack once again stumbled late, coming up empty in the fourth quarter, and has now scored an average of just 4.2 points in the final frame over their past five games. Overall, the RedBlacks have produced just seven TD passes to date, but it is tough to hang the goat’s horns of quarterback Dru Brown, who has connected for three touchdowns while starting the past two games. Brown has regularly targeted receiver Eugene Lewis with limited success. Lewis pulled in just seven of 14 targets last week while compiling a season-high 128 receiving yards and has compiled 203 yards while making 15 catches over the past two weeks. A little more chemistry between the duo, particularly early on, is crucial to Ottawa’s chances of snapping out of their current funk.
