Tiger-Cats vs. Elks CFL Week 17 Betting Odds, Picks: Can Hamilton Avoid Playoff Elimination?
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will be desperate to end a four-game losing streak that has pushed them to the brink of elimination from this year’s CFL playoffs when they visit the CFL West-leading Edmonton Elks on Saturday night in CFL Week 17 betting action at Commonwealth Stadium.
The Tiger-Cats saw their current swoon extended with last week’s lopsided 37-25 loss to Montreal and can be bounced from playoff contention with a loss in Edmonton combined with a win or tie by the Calgary Stampeders in their date with Ottawa, or if both Winnipeg and BC win their respective Week 17 matchups.
The Elks saw a four-game win streak snapped by last week’s 24-19 loss in Toronto, but have won three straight at home and maintain a four-point lead over second-place Saskatchewan in the CFL West standings.
The Elks lead the way as sizeable 8.5-point home favourites on the CFL Week 17 odds. The Ti-Cats trail as a +320 CFL moneyline underdogs and the total is listed at 57.5.
CFL Odds and Betting
Saturday night’s matchup marks the first of two meetings between these teams over a three-week period, with the rematch set to take place in Hamilton in Week 19. The Tiger-Cats swept last year’s two-game season series, including a 28-24 victory in Edmonton as 4.5-point chalk, and have now topped in the Elks in four of six matchups.
However, it is the Elks who have held the edge on the CFL odds, covering in three straight dates with Hamilton and five of their past seven.
While these teams have combined to score 52+ points in six of their past seven tilts, the UNDER paid out in CFL totals betting in each of their 2025 matchups.
In addition to losing outright in eight of their past 10 games, the Tabbies have also been a betting disappointment, going 3-7 ATS over that stretch and have lost five straight on the road by an average margin of 14.2 points per game.
The Elks have climbed to the top of the CFL West while going 7-3 SU and ATS in their past 10, and have surrendered just 15.7 points per game while winning three straight at home.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Saturday’s contest looks difficult for the Ti-Cats on almost every level. Hamilton ranks last in scoring and offensive yardage, while Edmonton has allowed the fewest points in the CFL. Now faced with the real possibility of elimination, the Tabbies need answers, and they need them fast.
Harrison Frost got the call under centre once again last week versus the Alouettes after tossing for two scores in a Labour Day loss to Toronto. But while Frost connected for 330 yards and three TDs, he also contributed to the team’s six turnovers with four interceptions and saw all three of his scoring passes come in garbage time.
Edmonton Elks
After scoring an average of 38.8 points per game during their 4-0 SU run, the Elks struggled to close the deal in last week’s loss to the Argonauts, mustering a season-low 19 points despite driving into the Argos red zone six times. Indeed, Toronto’s defence was the story, holding an Edmonton offence that had scored 53 points the previous week to one touchdown while intercepting Cody Fajardo twice in the red zone.
But with the Tiger-Cats seemingly turning over the ball at will and seeing most of their touchdowns of late coming while trailing by double-digits, the Elks are well positioned to rebound. This contest has all the makings of a massive mismatch.
