Stampeders vs. Tiger-Cats Prediction: CFL Week 19 Point Spread, Odds

The first game of the CFL’s Week 19 doubleheader on Saturday is big in the playoff race as West Division third-place and struggling Calgary visits East-leading Hamilton, which is -2.5 on the CFL odds with a total of 56.5 that is easily the highest of the week.

CFL Odds and Betting

There are just three weeks left in the CFL regular season including this one, so the playoff field is starting to take shape. Saskatchewan and the B.C. Lions have clinched playoff spots in the West Division and Hamilton and Montreal have in the East. The Roughriders remain +270 Grey Cup favourites over the Tiger-Cats (+300).

Calgary is in good spot for a playoff spot at 8-7 and tied for third in the East Division with Winnipeg and currently holding the tiebreaker. The Stamps also have a game in hand on the second-place Lions and the teams are tied in the loss column. Hamilton holds a two-game lead over Montreal atop the East and should win that with a 6-1 record inside the division. Five of the Ticats’ losses have come against the West.

This concludes the regular-season series between the clubs. In Week 1, the Stamps were 3-point home underdogs when they knocked off the Ticats 38-26 (total was 53.5). Calgary tailback Dedrick Mills had three touchdowns and 124 total yards from scrimmage to overcome two interceptions from QB Vernon Adams Jr. in his Stamps debut. Hamilton’s Bo Levi Mitchell completed 31 of 50 for 304 yards and a TD in the loss with his team trailing most of the way.

Hamilton is 6-3 ATS in the past nine meetings. The over is 5-1 in the past six.

Calgary Stampeders

The Stamps were 4-point underdogs in Week 18 at B.C. and lost their fourth straight game – also 0-4 ATS – by a score of 38-24. It was the Lions’ fourth straight win as they clinched a playoff spot.

The Calgary defence has allowed at least 31 points in each game of the skid and the Stampeders have been outscored 121-62.

Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 303 yards and two scores in his return to British Columbia in Week 18 but also three interceptions. He was sacked six times. Wide receivers Clark Barnes and Dominique Rhymes had TD catches and Clarence Hicks had two sacks. Dedrick Mills rushed for 85 yards and became the first Stampeder to reach 1,000 rushing in a season since 2017.

But the Calgary defence allowed 498 yards, marking the third straight game it surrendered at least 446. The Stamps simply have to finish with a better season record as the Blue Bombers (8-7) or Elks (6-9) to reach the playoffs. Calgary is 1-4 ATS in its past five away.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats

I previewed Hamilton’s game last Saturday in Toronto and predicted a 30-26 Ticats victory as short favourites and they rolled 47-29, nearly landing Over the total of 57.5 themselves.

The Tiger-Cats’ defence dominated despite allowing nearly 30 points as that unit had nine sacks and knocked out Toronto QB Nick Arbuckle with an upper-body injury in the first quarter. Julian Howsare had four of those sacks, a career high (never even had four in college).

The team also had four interceptions with three by Stavros Katsantonis. He is now tied for the league lead with six picks.

Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 320 yards and four scores, two of those to Kenny Lawler and two to Brendan O’Leary-Orange. Greg Bell ran for 76 yards and a touchdown.

Hamilton has reached 10 wins for the first time in six years. It eliminated Toronto from playoff contention with the win and took the season series 2-1. Hamilton clinches the East with a win here – its magic number to do so is two. The Ticats are 1-4 ATS in their past five at home.
