Stampeders vs. RedBlacks Prediction: CFL Week 7 Point Spread, Odds

These two teams met back in Calgary in week one, where the Redblacks surprised the Stampeders in Calgary 32-28. Ottawa will not have to worry about Bo Levi Mitchell in this game as he is still on the IR, but Nick Arbuckle has filled in admirably in his absence.

CFL Odds and Betting

Calgary enters this game winning four of their last five against the Redblacks. They are also 6-3-2 in their last 11 games head to head. Yes, these two teams have tied twice in the last two and a half years.

The Redblacks are sliding as of late, and are 2-6 against the spread in the last eight games after suffering a loss the week before. They are also 0-4 ATS in their last four games in the month of July.

Of note, at the start of the season, the Stampeders were heavy favourites to repeat as Grey Cup Champions at +269, but after a 3-2 that number has dropped to +522. The Redblacks were longshots to win the Grey Cup +900, but now stand at +1800.

Calgary Stampeders

The Stampeders have had an up and down type of season but are coming off a 26-16 win against the helpless Argos.

Juwan Brescacin returned to the line-up after missing the last two games with a concussion. He caught three passes for 64 yards and two touchdowns.

Running back Ka’Deem Carey filled in nicely for the injured Don Jackson having a breakout game. He didn’t look out of place rushing for 65 yards on 12 carries. Speaking of running backs, the team is expecting Romar Morris back at practice this week after missing last week.

Not to look to far ahead, but after this game with the Redblacks, the team has one of the tougher schedules in the league. In the next five weeks, the Stamps meet the Eskimos three times, Bombers and upstart Alouettes.

Ottawa RedBlacks

The Redblacks enter this game on a three-game losing streak, have had a hard time scoring (34 points in three games), and preventing points (96 points against in three games). They are hoping the thumping they took in Winnipeg will be a turning point to their season as they lost 31-1, and managed just 12 first downs. They also punted the ball 12 times in the loss. They can only improve on these terrible numbers.

Quarterback Jonathan Jennings had a poor Redblacks debut passing for just 45 yards (6-for-15), and was replaced by third stringer Will Arndt, who didn’t fare much better (57 yards passing). Head Coach Rick Campbell suggested starter Dominique Davis isn’t expected to be ready for this contest as well. In that case, Jennings will start versus Calgary.

Receiver Brad Sinopoli has had a slow start to the season. In week one he hauled in seven receptions, and since that time just 12 catches in four games.

On a positive, running back John Crockett carried the ball 15 times for 88 yards. His longest run was a 19 yard jolt against the league’s best defence (Bombers).
