Stampeders vs. Elks Prediction: CFL Week 14 Point Spread, Odds

Calgary found their way back from a late 15-point deficit to win last week. Can the Elks get off the mat after another demoralizing loss and pick up the win on Saturday?

CFL Week 14 Odds and Betting

Calgary is 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall but have struggled to string wins together. They are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games when coming off an ATS win in their previous contest. When it comes to their totals, the over is 4-0-1 in Calgary’s last five games when coming off an ATS win.

Flipping over to the Elks, they are 19-40 ATS in their last 59 games played at home and are 6-14 ATS in their last 20 games when going up against teams from the West. As for their total trend, the over has cashed out in four of the last five games played at home.

Calgary Stampeders

Calgary didn’t exactly get off to a hot start on Labour Day but they certainly finished strong. Quarterback Jake Maier put up wonderful numbers in the end, completing 27 out of his 34 total pass attempts for 315 yards and an interception. He didn’t throw a touchdown pass but ran one in.

The Stampeders desperately needed a win to keep their distance on Edmonton in the West Division. The Elks were expected to be bad; the Stamps were not. A loss last week would turn up the heat on a lot of the leaders in Calgary. For now, they fended it off but a loss this week puts everyone back in the crosshairs.

Edmonton Elks

Edmonton has been quite competitive over the last month of action and as a result, is shockingly still involved in the postseason race. That’s impressive considering they had an 0-9 start to the season. A win here brings them within one game of a playoff spot. Much of this is because of the resiliency of their quarterback Tre Ford. Ford did everything he could last week, rushing for 135 yards and completing 14 of his 23 passes for 136 additional yards. His rushing numbers also happened to be a record for Canadian-born quarterbacks.

Unfortunately, Edmonton wasn’t able to keep their foot on the gas pedal throughout the entire game. They had a 15-point lead late in the game but fell apart down the stretch to lose their 10th game of the year. Chris Jones said “It’s as tough a loss as I’ve ever been involved in.”

At the same time, considering how bad this team was early in the season, the fact that they’re in each game is a testament to their development. Look for them to get some revenge on Saturday.
