Stampeders vs. Elks Prediction: CFL Week 14 Point Spread, Odds

The Calgary Stampeders look to keep pace with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the CFL West standings with a fourth straight win when they hit the road on Saturday night to Face the Edmonton Eskimos in CFL Week 14 betting action. The Stampeders extended their current surge with a decisive 28-7 victory in last week’s Labour Day Classic versus the Elks to remain snap a four-game losing streak against Edmonton and remain just two points back of the first-place Riders. With last week’s loss, the Elks saw a three-game win streak snapped while denying them a chance to pull even with the BC Lions in a bid to cross over and claim the third and final playoff spot in the CFL East.

Buoyed by last week’s dominant performance, the Stampeders have emerged as 6.5-point favourites on the CFL Week 14 odds. The Elks trail as +230 underdogs on the CFL moneyline and the total is pegged at 50.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

The Stampeders rewrote a losing narrative with their Labour Day victory over Edmonton. The Stamps were outclassed with regularity while losing their previous four head-to-head meetings, falling to defeat by an average margin of 10.8 points per game. In addition to keeping them within striking distance of first place, the Stamps solidified themselves as a solid bet with last week’s win, improving to 7-4 ATS, and have now limited opponents on seven occasions this season. That trend has paid dividends for sports bettors taking the UNDER, which has gone 7-3 in Calgary’s past 10. Reality hit hard for the Elks last week loss after the squad appeared poised to return to playoff contention while posting three straight wins against struggling CFL East opponents. Conversely, this team has struggled badly when facing division rivals, losing five straight and nine of 10 while averaging just 16.4 points per game. However, it is tough to ignore that the Elks’ past two divisional wins have come against Calgary.

Calgary Stampeders

It was the Stampeders’ prettiest win of the season, but the squad did just enough to snap their recent slide against Edmonton with last week’s 28-7 victory. Calgary drew first blood and never looked back, keeping the Elks out of the end zone all day despite getting outpaced in total yardage by the Edmonton attack.

Overall, the Stampeders have allowed just three total TDs during their 3-0-0 run and that stinginess has taken the pressure off quarterback Vernon Adams Jr., amassed just 162 yards on meagre 13 for 23 passing last week. Running back Dedrick Mills provided the spark with 106 rushing yards and has now topped 100 yards in two of three outings. However, the Stamps need more scoring out of the backfield, which has produced just two TDs in four games.

Edmonton Elks

Cody Fajardo played a big role in the Elks’ recent Est winning streak but the Elks pivot must spark far more scoring if this team is going to make a serious run at the postseason. Fajardo has failed to find the end zone in each of the past two games and now finds himself near the bottom of the CFL QB stats with just 163.4 passing yards per game and a meagre seven TDs in 11 game appearances.

Things have not gone much better on the ground, with top rusher Justin Rankin tallying just one score over the past four games and averaging just 41 rushing yards over the past two contest. Indeed, things could be much worse were it not for the efforts of kicker Vincent Blanchard, who has made 11 of 15 field goals over the past five contests. Expect the Elks’ fate to be sealed this weekend.
