Stampeders vs. Blue Bombers Prediction: CFL Week 6 Point Spread, Odds
The Blue Bombers halted a season-opening four-game slide with last week’s 25-16 victory over Ottawa, which also earned them their first win against the spread since last season’s CFL West Final. The Stampeders arrive in Winnipeg on the rebound from 30-26 loss in Montreal and are now winless in three road games so far this season. Buoyed by last week’s win over the visiting RedBlacks, the Blue Bombers look to Friday’s action as 4.5-point home favourites on the CFL odds. The Stampeders trail as +185 underdogs on the CFL moneyline, while the total is listed at 47.5.
CFL Odds and Betting
Friday night’s matchup marks the second meeting between these CFL West rivals in three weeks. The Stampeders escaped with a 22-19 victory as 3.5-point home underdogs in that contest, ending a six-game head-to-head losing streak but have failed to claim a straight up win in Winnipeg since rolling to a 29-10 decision back in July 2017. Overall, the Bombers have taken nine of 11 from Calgary and have avoid defeat in consecutive dates with the Stamps since their last home loss seven years ago.
Despite largely dominating the Stampeders on the scoreboard in recent years, the Blue Bombers have gone just 5-5 against the spread in their past 10 clashes and are just 4-4 ATS in their past eight head-to-head matchups on home turf.
Calgary Stampeders
The pressure will be on the Stampeders defence in Friday’s visit to Winnipeg. The Stamps have struggled to shut down opposing offences during their current 1-8 SU run on the road, surrendering over 30 points five times over that stretch and an average of 32.3 points in three away dates this season.
The offence has also struggled to produce consistent results, scoring 17 or fewer points twice in their past five road dates and just 18.8 points per game over their past four visits to Winnipeg. However, the Stampeders ground game has been steady despite recent injuries to Dedrick Mills and BJ Emmons. Peyton Logan led the charge in last week’s loss to the Alouettes, galloping for 65 of the team’s 148 rushing yards on the night.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Sergio Castillo proved to be the difference for Winnipeg in last week’s win over the RedBlacks. With injured quarterback Zach Collaros on the shelf, the Blue Bombers kicker picked up the slack with six field goals, rescuing a limited offensive attack that generated just 126 passing yards and 306 total yards. Collaros is expected to return to action this week, but in addition to overcoming injury, the two-time CFL Most Outstanding Player faces the challenge of reversing a brutal start to the season after failing to find the end zone while tossing four interceptions through his first four appearances.
