Stampeders vs. Alouettes Prediction: CFL Week 17 Point Spread, Odds
It’s a battle of second place teams on Friday in Montreal.
The 7-7 Als won their second game in a row last week, downing Toronto 21-19 on the road. The 8-5 Stamps are trending in the opposite direction with two straight losses, including a 52-23 blowout loss at home against the Lions in Week 16.
Montreal is a 4.5-point favourite to win on the CFL odds, with the total pegged at 50.5.
CFL Odds and Betting
This concludes the season series after the Alouttes’ 23-21 Week 8 win in Calgary. These teams typically play tight matchups, with just two points representing the average margin of victory over the last three head-to-heads.
It’s more like home field disadvantage for Montreal this season as they are just 2-5 at Molson Stadium compared to 5-2 on the road. Meanwhile, Calgary has a winning record on both sides, going 5-3 at home and 3-2 on the road.
The Stampeders also hold a distinct edge when it comes to covering as they are 7-6 against the spread overall, including 3-2 ATS on the road. The Als, on the other hand, are just 5-9 ATS overall, covering in just one of seven home dates.
Both teams sit in the top half of the Grey Cup odds on the CFL futures board. Calgary has the third-shortest Grey Cup odds at +425, followed by Montreal at +600.
Calgary Stampeders
It was a tough break on both sides of the ball for the Stampeders last week and that’s putting it nicely. Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. threw for just 115 yards with two interceptions before leaving with a rib injury. Adams will be good to go this week but he’s now failed to throw a touchdown pass in two straight games and it’s been four games since he’s thrown for multiple TDs.
Defence, however, was an even bigger problem for Calgary last week. The Stamps, who allow a league-low 22.9 points per game, were torched by BC to the tune of seven total touchdowns. Calgary allowed five rushing TDs and they enter Week 17 allowing the most rushing yards per game (113.9).
Montreal Alouettes
Montreal is firmly within striking distance of a playoff spot after winning back-to-back games to reach .500 on the season. They also have the welcome news of the return of quarterback Davis Alexander, who returned to practice this week after missing eight straight games with a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old has thrown for 1,106 yards with six TDs and three interceptions in 2025, while adding another 87 yards and one touchdown on the ground.
It’s a welcome return for the Als, who are 3-7 without Alexander in the lineup this season compared to 4-0 when he starts. Because of various injuries, Montreal has started four different quarterbacks in 2025, including McLeod Bethel-Thompson, Caleb Evans and fourth-stringer James Morgan. Alexander will be looking to rejuvenate an Alouettes offence that ranks dead last in the CFL in offensive points per game (22.1) and eighth in net yards (325.4).
