Stampeders vs. Alouettes Prediction: CFL Week 6 Point Spread, Odds
The Alouettes enjoyed a bye last week after eking out a narrow 37-35 win over Ottawa in Week 4, and maintain a narrow two-point lead over second-place Hamilton in the CFL East. The Stampeders travel to Montreal after rolling to a 58-36 victory over Toronto last week to extend their current win streak to two games.
The Alouettes lead the way as 3.5-point favourites on the CFL Week 6 odds. The Stampeders trail as +170 underdogs on the CFL moneyline and the total is listed at 62.5.
CFL Odds and Betting
The Alouettes have dominated in recent dates with the Stamps, going undefeated in each of their past six overall meetings and topping Calgary in three straight on home turf. The Montreal defence has gotten the job done, limiting Calgary to just 20 points per game over their past three dates, maintaining a slight edge for the UNDER in totals betting, which has gone 4-2 in their past six clashes. The Als have also regularly rewarded loyal CFL bettors when facing the Stampeders, going 15-4 against the spread in 19 meetings since 2014. The Montreal offence has steadily performed during the squad’s 3-1-0 start, averaging over 33 points per game, generating a 4-0 run for the OVER. However, the Stamps visit Montreal as the CFL’s highest scoring team after last week’s offensive outburst versus the Argos, scoring 41 points per game, However, Calgary has also regularly given up big point totals, allowing almost 35 points per game.
Calgary Stampeders
Stampeders quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. found the zone last week versus the Argonauts, connecting for 405 passing yards and six touchdowns in the blowout win, and has now found the end zone a total of nine times over the past two games while avoid the pick. Jalen Philpot emerged as Adams’ favourite target, pulling in seven of eight passes for 83 yards and two TDs. Dejon Brissett also made two scoring catches for 70 yards while Tevin Jones led the way with 139 yards and one score. Davis Alexander quickly bounced back from his first-ever regular-season defeat as a CFL starting quarterback with a steady performance last time out versus the RedBlacks. Alexander connected on 22-of-30 passes for 345 yards and two scores in the Als’ narrow 37-35 victory for his third multi-TD performance of the season, and now trails only Toronto’s Chad Kelly with 369.5 passing yards per game. But the big story over the campaign in Montreal has been outstanding play of receiver Tyson Philpot. The veteran wide receiver out of Delta BC is on a record-setting pace after catching 12 of 13 targets versus Ottawa for 198 yards. That marked the second time in three outings the 25-year-old has piled up 190+ receiving yards, giving him 587 yards to date, and putting him on course for an historic 2642-yard campaign. However, Philpot has yet to find the end zone through four games this season.
