New Head Coach Craig Dickenson has big shoes to fill in Riderville with the off-season departure of Chris Jones to the NFL.
The team and city was rocked on a cold day in early January when Head Coach and General Manager Chris Jones resigned abruptly to accept a position with the Cleveland Browns. Enter Jeremy O’Day (General Manager) and Craig Dickenson (Head Coach) to pick up the pieces entering training camp.
Last season
The Green Riders had a very good 2018 campaign finishing the year in second place in the West (and overall in the CFL) with a 12-6 record. But that’s where the positives end. With starter Zach Colloras sidelined just prior to the post season, back-up Brandon Bridge couldn’t get the job done as they fell to the Blue Bombers in the Semi-Final.
Saskatchwan Roughriders Acquisitions and Moves
After a failed attempt to lure Bo Levi Mitchell in free agency, the team settled on bringing back Zach Collaros. In he can stay healthy; perhaps this team has a chance. He will have many offensive additions in William Powell (Ottawa), Emmanuel Arceneaux (BC), Cory Watson (BC). Former Running Back Tre Mason, and Jordan Williams-Lambert (NFL) will be missed. Speaking off being missed, there isn’t a bigger loss on this team then Defensive End Willie Jefferson who now will wear the enemy colours of Winnipeg. But the additions of Solomon Elimimian and Micah Johnson could help off-set that major loss.
2019 Saskatchwan Roughriders CFL Schedule
The Riders will begin the 2019 season with three consecutive games against the East Division. A high-light on any Riders regular season schedule is always the annual Labour Day Classic. Between week 12 and week 17 the Riders and Bombers will meet three times. If the Riders qualify for the post season they will definitely have to earn it, concluding the last five weeks of the season against the Bombers, Stampeders, Lions and two games against the Eskimos.

The Riders are mild longshots to win the West Division paying +550 at Sports Interaction, even longer to win the Grey Cup at +741. They will not produce like they did last season. We have them pencilled down for a 9-9 season.
